The Drought is over!
According to my weather station, it's raining Cats & Dogs! As of 9:00 am, we have had 4.52 cm of rain fall and it's still pouring! I think that the forecast of 5 cm is going to be way out. This should help to get the water table closer to normal levels. Enjoy!

Has too much time on their hands
I think there is a long way to go before this drought is officially over but it is good to see clear liquid from the sky. I just wish it was a light rain over a few days vs the downpour we are getting. The majority of the rain will just wash over the hard ground rather than soak into it.

One fall forecast I have seen is calling for above normal temps and below normal precip so if that happens the drought is long from over. This rain is nice (and I'll take it) but we need far more to make up for the lack of rain this summer.

It will be impossible to make up for it, the season is almost over for the farmers and there is no coming back for those crops. Crop insurance prices are going to go up, becoming a farmer is getting even tougher.

Too late for several crops-[soon-to-be-harvested barley and oats and all-important cash crops such as soybeans and corn.

This I agree with this. What I am seeing in the woods and feeling is just that. Mild lead up to Jan, long duck season (like last year).

Also talks of a cold/snowy winter come January but have to wait an see. Reports are that July was the hottest on record since they started taking records. Looks like the hot humid weather will last through the end of August as calling for humidex in the high 30s this weekend and then again in the mid-to-high 30s next weekend

Crops look really good in this neck of the woods and have received a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks. I would trade careers with a farmer any day.

Drought is still on here. We get a tenth or 2. Most rain goes North of us or south over lake Erie. Glad I can irrigate, but I can't keep up.
