Posted Spots - what a ...
Went to duck hunting today and while getting to the spot we noticed that the spot we planned to place our john boat with blinds was "posted" by another hunter.... so we moved aside to less desirable place, put out decoys and started hunting... to our surprise the hunter who posted the spot did not show up!!! I think it is a huge disrespect... I am pretty sure many on the forum will not agree with me but I am ignoring posted spots from now on... I will also take a picture of the sign next week and place it on this forum so people might recognize this disrespectful hunter or maybe he will recognize himself here....

2 wrongs don't make a right. To disrespect all others for one bad apple isn't right. If a sign has been placed with the full name and date I would respect it. If they didn't show may not respect it next year. Guy may of had an emergency.

We all know that putting your name on a sign does not gurantee a 'reservation' to hunt there. This has been generally respected by hunters for opening day only but there is no legal basis here.
It is interesting though how many people just 'show up' on opening morning without doing any scouting etc.

I wouldn't consider it disrespectful. There could have been a number of reasons why buddy didn't show up. For all we know he got sick, a family emergency, etc.
Look at it this way, at least you got out hunting. Some of us didn't :-(

That's been my experience, too. That's why I avoid opening day like the plague. I go upland, instead.

"By gentlemen's agreement" has been the tradition for many generations and only until noon of opening day. I can't count on both hands the number of times I've seen hunters act like spoiled brats over duck blinds.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I don't think you should be able to post a spot on public waters. Its first come first serve like any other hunting. You don't post trees for turkey hunting or deer so why a duck spot. Respect is respect if there are people there then move on, other then that its fare game.

I am ok with the posting of spots for the opener. There is enough fighting as it is but I to avoid the opening morning.
