There is a 'Big Rideau Lake'....from Smiths Falls down to Westport....and there is the 'Rideau River' which runs from Ottawa down past Smiths Falls.

Some great Canoe fishing all a long the Rideau using the lock system. I fish in and around Buritts Rapids, there are a few good places to launch a Canoe (free) and some easy paddling.

Fish the Rideau River. Launch your canoe at "Reeve Craig" (google search that) and pick a direction to go. This time of year the shallow weeds have nearly died off, the floating debris is settling down and the water temps are somewhere in the 50's. It's muskie and walleye time there.

Good place for Muskie down river towards where the Kemptville creek meets up with the Rideau.

Launch from Baxter conservation area? Or from the turn out by the the museum? Both look excellent either of them gated this time of year? Think creek chub on jig would be a good presentation this time of year?
