Bernier, Hillier and Sloan all lost leadership contests. Bernier started his own Libertarian-light political party and went down to crushing defeat. Hillier and Sloan were so offensive they were kicked out of their own parties and face political extinction the next time they go to the polls.

Colin Kapernick was villified as well for kneeling not very long ago and lost probably well over $100 million in future earnings for kneeling for equality, as have many others.
All people have to respect others rights to protest and give their opinions peacefully even if they do not respect the message.

I can't disagree with your statement, but in his own opinion he felt strongly enough and knew what the repercussions would probably be even though he was at the top of his game. He was not forced by others as far as I know, and I respect him for this as there was no bigger stage to get his feelings across no matter the repercussions. This what peaceful protest is all about, every movement starts somewhere and the people at the forefront are usually the ones who pay the biggest price.

I've seen numerous threads, and even more post/comments from people that are on the right, criticizing lockdowns/Ford...Than I've seen from people on the L criticizing JT.

It would seem to me, Ford is more concerned about votes than anything else. half measures here and there, and the only commonality is not pissing off the gentiles in the GTA. Read something this morning we are the only province in Canada! that closed ski hills.......

What might be "interesting" is what he does once we start getting some nicer weather in March/April. I'm sure none of forget the throngs flooding beaches/parks and nothing but words from him. Over the next few weeks, we might learn more about the different strains and or where we stand on vaccinations.

One thing is for sure and it's not just here or a few on the far right. More and more and more people/business after a year are close to "breaking". Exhausted.

Lock downs are a provincial responsibility. You should mention Ford.

Why would you blame the left for the lockdown consequences? Provincial responsibility. Conservatives in Ontario. I would imagine that just as many voters, of all political persuasions, are hurting financially, because of these lock downs. Do you think liberals are hurting less than conservatives? How would you know, and be able to prove it.

It was never proven that he knew where the funds came from. No one vetted the money coming in, especially money under a false name (real name Paul Fromm). The charge of racism for accepting donations from someone using a false identity would never stick if taken to court. No evidence of wrong doing on the behalf of Sloan !!!!

I believe we as a Country procured probably the most number of vaccines out of most countries in the World, Canada was the first country to come to an agreement with Moderna and the fourth country to make a deal with Pfizer.

The late delivery was out of our hands and still is.

Well Erin O Toole and a whole bunch of other Conservatives voted him off the island as you would like to say. They obviously believed he knew he got the support of a white supremist and did not accept his lame excuse about the name.

G as usual didn't seem to even understand what he read, definitely no clue on the medical industry! The gave them medical records with annonimity to the patients. In the medical industry that kind of information is commonly exchanged, I've seen thousands of patience data and records being processed that way to look for issues and potential drug interactions, contraindications flags and possible allergic reactions. I was talking to someone I know at a research company that was processing through thousands of patients data they were provided to search for a way to identify a specific condition.

The Israels, came to the table later, paid a premium for just one type of vaccine and they got it months before Canada because they spent their money more wisely than the Liberals.

Interstingly,this came to me the same way today. The more i watch ,the more i believe this tactic of "dispersing the crowd"on the Very forum are by sort of a design.
One starts a thread,wheren things can be debated-and the thread is away from politics-someone jumps in and non stop breaks up the cohesion of the thread.

Ok let me get you right, you expect our Government to give a private corporation, corporate welfare to develop a vaccine and I suppose you would need the infrastructure money as well to build the facility. Guess what the government has had many, many, such proposals from a whole range of companies willing to do the same thing. Major problem is that they did not yet have a vaccine, they had not done any trials to see if it worked and some of them didn't even have the facilities to produce them. I think it was wiser to go with the big guys who had an approved vaccine, because they after all put much money into RD and could scale production up.

I think there is a whole bunch of confusion going on here in relation to all this.

My daughter just flew in a few days ago from Costa RICO, she flew up via Chicago and needed a Negative Covid result before she left Costa Rico. On arrival here she was told she could not go from TORONTO directly to Edmonton where she works. She would have to quarantine for 14 days with us. So that is what she has been doing ,they called yesterday to make sure she is still here, but the same lady said that she COULD have went directly to Edmonton that night she landed or ANYTIME. LOL who is on first base.

I gave you the link yesterday to Providence, they still have no vaccine or infrastructure why are you stuck on them 35 million was a proposal for a possible vaccine, that might have been approved, might have tested properly and approved.

Mr Pallister has given Province 50million dollars for a made in Canada vaccine which I believe they said would be made in Manitoba. let's be honest here, nobody predicted a Global pandemic and there was nothing in place. Nobody knew how out of control it got, nobody figured out variants. If a company had a "crystal ball" and knew this was coming I am sure a factory would have been built and so forth.

Time lines are of course important but I have to think Trudeau did what he thought was best at the time and went with established big name
companies. If Providence was so sure of its ability to develop a vaccine, get it tested on humans and actually have a facility built in the first place, would not private investors have not jumped right in there. So right now they have the square route of zero, no vaccine, no facility and a maybe promise of the end of this year.

Mike I watched the television and took from it what I heard. So I did not see or read anything I heard it.

But I am sure the readers appreciate you now giving them the written text from a different source from what I HEARD.

The timeline for getting a vaccine or whatever this "cure" is for covid is important, but not even close to as important as it is for us as Canadians to be able to manufacture it in Canada and not rely on another country which is going to say "eat poop", we are giving our people the cure before we sell to you.
I have no problem with any country looking out for their citizens first, they have the product and can be as selfish as they want.
Instead of finger pointing and blaming everyone else who screwed up 10 or 20 years ago before them, let's just get back to manufacturing what we need internally so we can fill our own needs.
This is not the last rodeo for viruses, plagues or whatever, it is an ongoing issue that is not going to get any better.
We have global travel that can infect the world now in hours not months or years, whether it is intentional or not.
Petty game-man-ship has to stop. We need Canadian manufacturers making product for Canadians to use, not begging at the world bank of vaccines or whatever it is for something we should be a world leader producing.
We have some of the infrastructure already, lets expand it and make jobs that way instead of giving money to other countries for their products.

That is my take on it nobody wanted to get into this type of business model with Rand D given the population of Canada. Given that our cousins with a population 10x ours was also caught with their pants down and needed a massive infusion of money by the government to complete the development.

There is risk in relying on a very small Canadian company from Alberta who does not yet have a vaccine ,which is not yet tested, in a facility not yet built. The main reason we are lagging badly is that China had a bone to pick with us and the delay in delivery, which I might note got worse with Israel for instance skipping the line, offering big money per shot and giving away personal information. I mean you are holding these guy's out as your gold standard as they are #1.

I truly do not believe we have a choice if we want to have vaccine available in the future. We already do have some people in Canada doing phase 1 or 2 trials as we speak. This is not a static situation but will always be evolving and mutating into something different.

No but I was there when the "left" attempted to burn down Queen's Park during the Harris years. The general public knows what has happened at Caledonia, Ipperwash, and Oka. No level of government want's to go down that road again.

The trauma does indeed remain and Torontonian's are sophisticated enough politically to know who exactly to blame for such trauma, that is why the Conservatives do not have snowball's chance in hell of ever getting any votes in the Toronto or GTA area in the future.

I guess perfect proof of this is that Billy Blair win's landslide victories in his riding back to back, has been a cabinet Minister for most of the time and the Liberals have been in power all this time. Game, set and match.

While mathematically possible i doubt it. It would happen but i think it would take more than 4 generations as typically the first 2 or 3 generations don't mix that much after they leave a home a country. That's why we have ethnic neighbourhoods - most people stay with what is familiar. My parents immigrated in 1948. I did not know anyone outside our ethnic background until i went to university. We had our own schools and church and only mixed with Canadians when necessary. I married a Canadian during university and this was very frowned on. In my generation out of 28 cousins only 2 of us married outside the community. Now my kids are a different story they are fully integrated but, they are the first since my parents came over in 1948 - so 73 years down the road and we are only really just starting to mix..

To be fair-maybe it should be like this: anyone voted for any Party in Ruling ,which Party's Financial performance puts more debt to the Province or the Country AND/OR raises taxes to avoid such a debt should pay 50 % more taxes for the duration of the Party ruling .Period.

So you're going to completely ignore the fact that we went through the Great Financial Melt Down and the Great Recession ... and just skip to the part where there was a deficit ... talk about taking things out of context.
