I started watching this last week before bed, I am half way through it. I was hoping the rest would be absorbed by osmosis.

To me it seems that some people who post on this site, want the world to 'fail'. They almost act joyful, at the possibility. Why ....Just so they can say, 'I told you so' ? 'See you should have listened'? 'I was right'.....

Lot of crap, many people in my family are Masons My Dad is inactive these days, his brother my Uncle is an Active member, my Dad's father my Grandfather was a very active member as well as a member of the Shriner's and my Mother's Father my Grandfather was also very active. Yes buying our home is the best investment that we ever made. Bought in 1998 for 240,000. House on our street went for 1.6 last week. 350,000 over asking. Not a bad return on investment, whlle we live in it. Gotta love capitalism. Pushed us into the 20%. I will say again that neither the wife or I ever made the sunshine list. Gee everyone seems to feel like doing the best for your family is great, unless...... But there should be a limit.

Before reading some stats from Stats Can (link at the end). Do note, since the Liberals came into power (2016) everyone net worth has slowed to growth of 1.6%. Between 2012-2016 it was 3.5%.
Now think about 2020/2021.
Jobs, real estate, where they are or aren’t, some being intentionally sacrificed for everyone’s well being, but them, “too bad, so sad”, people being priced out of home ownership unless or rather those that can they take massive mortgages ( killing net worth), and some more thing that might be mentioned.
Not the least of which, is that despite knowing for a few decades the middle class was having trouble saving and in 2018 (??) the 80% club managed to save a meagre average of $800....

That is pay packages. How do you include assets , investments , home, in that? Does it not apply to net worth. So everyone with a home , paid for, in the GTA is a ‘ have’ ? Pretty low bar. You can make 200 grand a year and own nothing. Make much much less and own a home, are they then ‘haves’?

And that gap because you kind of need income to build net worth unless your a trust fund baby, is between the 20% and everyone else.
Lastly, consider this (there’s a lot more like jobs, 2008/2020, taxes etc). How many people around the middle, that gross typical Canadian numbers (say half the population and somewhere around $40,000-$50,000), can buy property?
People gripe about the 1%, and yes it’s “obscene”. Not the problem
