Problem for you Harold (and while I quite agree the Sun isn't exactly um, up there). While the Fraser Inst. is right wing….they are A) Full of knowledgable people and B) aren't only ones saying it….and in fact even many "left wing" no longer try to deny it, just sugar coat (see much of the coverage on the SS list, and other related topics) as much as possible.

The insane growth in PS (both numbers of and "cos"t) is well documented. Beyond any doubt.

A substantial amount of my life is reserved for guns weather it be for hunting or sporting. If any gov't were to take that away from me they would not get my vote regardless of what the party name is....

Unless you aren't a true Conservative you probably haven't seen that. Ignore him, I have ran into those educated to the point of imbecility more than I can recount. There were countless points on issues, concerns and various topics and puffed shirts like him aren't worth the effort to argue with. Like several of the others on here there is no discussion with them all you can do is point out they are wrong and hope they pull their heads out of the sand to see the real world but they usually push their head deeper. With a political science degree it isn't worth anything in the working world and you can count on spin, rhetoric and twisting usually but no common sense, only enough logic to win a debate not be right and all the moral certainty of jello two seconds after you put in the boiling water. I will admit/agree that IMO (meaning just my opinion) the Liberals both federally and provincially are by far, the worst culprits as far as vote buying/pandering go and abusing the inherent weakness in First Past. (just think about Quebec alone) or provincially and Red Toronto, and yep, they certainly have done a great job in their own smear campaigns painting Harper as the one creating the divisiveness.

However it's a fine line the Cons have/do it themselves, just nowhere near as badly/blatantly, and no Conservative gov't really, has tried to do much about it themselves.

Aside from the obvious tax grab, which for the most will really affect residents of the GTA (lol, the irony...lets see how much that gets them to react...) given the average house price is over 400k (highest rates).

OREA also spoke of other potential downsides with respect to lost business and spin off benefits.
More $ lost to taxes= less money for home renos, movers, painters, appliances etc, etc. All things people (buyers) typically spend money on with every home purchase. So more lost to taxes and less for the economy and spin offs. They (OREA) say/suggest allowing Toronto to do it back in 2008 cost about I think they quoted 50,000 jobs (inflated Im sure, but after 7yrs during tough times..who knows)

Theres a school of thought that says land transfer taxes, sales commissions get built into the price. For example.
Seller pays the sales commission
Buyer pays the land transfer tax.

So the price that a home trades hands at is increased/priced to account for that. In theory whats known as effecieint markets. Sellers know they will lose 5% and buyers know they will lose 2% (soon to be 4%). My guess is while marginal it will certainly crimp home sales, and if anything maybe slightly downward pressure on prices.

Which is outrageously ironic given most peons without pensions rely on their home equity for their "nest eggs". So going forward, every slave will lose thousands, tens of thousands eveyr time they buy a house, from their retirement fund.

If a young couple today (soon) moves out to the burbs and incurs say an additional $10,000 in tax. Then in 10 years time buys a step up house to accomadate their growing family...-15,000 ADDITIONAL and then say they move a third time when they downsize...-$15,000.
$40,000 ripped from their retirement fund/plan.

It's all about the revenue tools. Robin Hood policy. Home owners are rich people so they can afford an extra 2% on their house purchase. This should really go over well in Toronto (average home price is $996 770 so you will pay an additional $19 935.40 if it is implemented).

The Liberals will remove the freedom from Union members to have secret ballots and know how the money is spent, announced to the unions in a meeting the press was not allowed at.

The Liberas will remove the freedom to decide how we want to spend our money (debt, education etc) and force the Ontario Pension Plan, CPP increase, Carbon taxes, roll back tax cuts etc.

The Liberal removed the freedom of immigration officers to speak about the "refugees"

The Liberals remove and are decreasing the freedom of media companies to compete with the National broadcaster by funding it $100,000,000 per month (outbidding private companies on events etc.)

The Liberals and NDP work hard at destroying the oil industry and many industries creating higher unemployment. (100,000 jobs lost in Alberta so far due to tax increase and low oil, not even allowing Canadian companies to bid on projects...)

That's OK,you can gloat all you like.....for now. Liberal philosophy reminds me of people who have gone up to their eyeballs in debt and just keep opening new charge accounts to finance that debt. All of a sudden the bank is foreclosing and the repo man just picked up their car(s) and they wonder what the he** just happened while they wring their hands and stand there with their bare faces hanging out. If it does it will not affect me, or mine. Financially secure , no debts, house and cottage paid for, money in trust for the kids. The only thing I might have to do, is move to a gated community, ( or buy more ammo). I just enjoy watching members of an out of doors forum discuss how the world should be run, good entertainment.

Billions spent, privatizing Ontario Hydro, consultants more than what they sold one business for, auditor general report, hydro up about 80% in the last few years. ..... and we don't have a recall law in Canada.... must be a Liberal idea.

Healthcare - hospitals money frozen, nurses cut (hundreds) and 100,000 nursing hours reduced all done in the last 3 years by the Liberal gov't..... cut spending, get patients home sooner etc. seems to be a certain lacking of something.... oh yes..... getting the patient better!

A line buried in a recent budget perhaps holds a clue. By “encouraging more Ontarians to save through a proposed new Ontario Retirement Pension Plan,” it reads, “new pools of capital would be available for Ontario-based projects such as building roads, bridges and new transit.” It’s not about “helping” retirees: it’s about financing the premier’s infrastructure ambitions. How strange they do not make this point clearer.
