I know this has been discussed but really.... I can't renew my card until December 6th. Why? Just such a faulty system for so many reasons. Most licenses you can renew years in advance....
Oh well big scheme of things not a big deal but that's my rant for today.
My rant as well. What an unfriendly sight. My wife and I are retired civil servants, and neither of us can figure it out. Who builds these sites?!

And your right....in the big shceme of things this is not a big deal since 2 out of the 3 ways to renew offer a temporary so there is nothing stopping you from fishing or hunting in the new year.
I also tried today.....thats cutting it awfully close since it is the holiday season and with postal at a max, id be very pissed if i couldnt hunt or fish come Jan 1 because of mail delays and only allowed to renew within 3 weeks of the card expiring......I would like to see this rule changed....to at least maybe 2 months prior to expiry.....
If you can do it on-line without their website crashing from so many people trying to renew all at once:whacked:,you can print a temporary license which covers you until your card comes in the mail. I wait until very early in the AM,like around 3:30 when most normal people are asleep.Quote:

Does anyone know if the new cards are still the gawd-awful looking green and brown ones? When they did away with the wildlife themed cards a number of years ago it confirmed what an inept group they have running the program.
Mine was renewed last year. Can confirm ugly green brown card. It sucks, I liked the turkeys on my old one.

I've found,in the past,that using the IE browser seems to work better on government sites. It's a crappy browser,but,that kind of figures,doesn't it?
When I select 2017 licenses it will only sell me various fishing licenses. I bought a three year small game license when I renewed my Outdoors card in January so I assume that is why I can only see fishing licenses.Quote:

We can also go into any Canadian Tire store and by a one year small game license,too,which will cover us until the government gets their shyte together. There's no way in he** that I'm not hunting Coyotes this winter because of government bungling. They can KMA!

We did get a few turkeys a few years back for our $$ and a couple moose.
Maybe I'm just pessimistic in my belief that if game went unmanaged some people would take advantage and cause populations to collapse. If we don't pay fees there would be less Conservation Officers and such (Although we need way more of them anyway....) with more people to take advantage.Quote:

You need a small game license before purchasing a turkey license. Not sure why since you don't need one to hunt bear, moose or deer.....
Just renewed mine over the phone. Tried to do it online but it kept kicking me out when I entered my email address. Talk about frustrating......

The reason why hunters are still welcome to play a role in wild game management in Ontario is because someone has to fund that nonsense...
I wish they'd get the glitches out of their useless website. I've tried three times in the last two days to renew on-line and all it let's me do is renew the card only for one year without the three-year small game. What a useless piece of garbage.
accept the one year it is actually one of 2 fees,,,,,then will take you to license selection,,then there is another 4.00 dollar fee $..........it took me 6 tries to figure it outQuote:

In 1982, I think I paid $4 for my first small game licence. For some hunters on poverty wages or disability, for whatever reason or lifestyle won't permit them to drop $180.
Is this sport only for the wealthy and will poaching increase?

Applied online Dec 6 morning for new card and small game licence, got new one today with the small game printed on the back, pretty good turnaround time!
One guy I know complains about hunting license fees, but golfs twice a week. Another one refuses to turkey hunt because he feels it should be part of our small game license fee, yet he spends his weekends on Georgian Bay in his cabin cruiser. Each of these other pastimes is exponentially more expensive than hunting. Its all depends what your real passion is.
In 1985 I paid $8500.00 for a brand new Tacoma, they have gone up but I'm still buying them. $60.00 a year to hunt and fish seems pretty cheap to me (how much would it cost for a family of four to go to the movies for a night?). Point is everything has gone up and relatively speaking $60.00 a year to get the enjoyment out of hunting and fishing that I get is an absolute no brainer.Quote:

And I completely disagree with your last statement. This year I offered up several free hunts to new hunters and the response was overwhelming and these were not "wealthy" people, most were half my age and I'm under 50. Hunting can be relatively cheap or as expensive as you want to make it.
