Why do we game managers (hunters) have to pay a fee to manage our Ontario resources, shouldn't the government be paying us to do that? Why is it the other way around? It's so unfair us hunters (game managers) get panelized for managing our provinces wildlife.
Maybe I'm just pessimistic in my belief that if game went unmanaged some people would take advantage and cause populations to collapse. If we don't pay fees there would be less Conservation Officers and such (Although we need way more of them anyway....) with more people to take advantage.

On the other hand I really hope that all the money they do take from hunters and anglers goes towards what they say it does . Things that we greatly benefit all game like research efforts, population censuses ,hiring more COs, educating the public about hunting.

That in no way is correct.

Is it possible to hold a hunting licence without small game? I could be wrong.

Regardless, we have to pay through the nose for a small game licence, yet there is no small game management to speak of.

Yes it is. I do it most years in that I have license for deer, but no small game.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think you can get a deer license without a small game license.....

No where in the regs does it require you to have a small game lic to hunt deer (in fact is says you cannot hunt deer with a small game lic). It only requires you to have a valid outdoors card to get your bear/deer/elk/moose lic and seal.

Incorrect. I did it again this year. Away working so didn't bother getting my smallgame (as most years this past few) But I managed a few days for deer. And applied earlier for the anterless without the smallgame.

That's what I always thought, too. Several of our camp members only buy a license for Moose and Deer every year without ever hunting small game. I think we need a small game license to buy a Migratory Bird license, though, don't we?
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

You do not require it to purchase one, but you require it if you want to hunt migratory birds. Some stamp collectors buy them every year and do not hunt.
