PITA demonstrator run over by truck

This is very sad and very preventable. I see this all the time in Burlington - animal rights activists run in front of transport trucks or run to the side of the trucks carrying hogs that are being transported to the slaughter house when they stop at the traffic light.

Do these people understand that these trucks are in the 50,000lbs - 70,000lbs range and cannot stop like an automobile and need room to turn and maneuver.

They should not be anywhere NEAR a truck when they protest. I just feel sorry for the truck driver that now has to deal with all the crap after this accident.

It was on this very forum,when some of the members said same things(like Darwin award) over and over about hunters and shooters doing stupid mistakes and almost killing themselves ....?that does not count?The way i see it here -they cut both ways?

Still, it’s a tragedy that anyone was killed....but, those who choose this type of ill conceived action, are the authors of their own misfortune !! As said, I feel sorry for the driver. He or she will be haunted by this for years ...

Again......as tragic as it was my thoughts go out to the driver of the truck and his family.

Maybe these Citiots will stop coming in from Toronto to protest at this processing plant. This is a legal company operating in a legal fashion and protesting or interfering in any way should be met with harsh penalties. If you are a Vegan/Vegetarian and want to help your cause start at the demand of the issue and not the supply of the issue.

Interestingly enough, one of the organizers of the Burlington protests was posting on Facebook this morning about the fire and made some comments about there being no live animals in the building and how many dead animals were hanging in the freezers..... but doesn’t seem to have any way of knowing this unless he was there.

Hell yes! I don't live close enough but if someone wants to do it , I sure could throw a few bucks their way for supplies. Since it free you could even use wild game, and do more then just hot dogs.. feed the homeless( BIG public points) and protest the protesters. Maybe help inform the public a little about hunting and fishing..
