Oh I listen to Mike, I just need to be cheap when shooting at the moment, gun show deals and reloading are the way I go for the time being, factory ammo stays on the store shelves.

I bought .45 ball for my Kentucky from Rick, he sold me 100 swagged balls for $16. So yes a good deal. Not sure if I would use them for hunting, I guess depending on the game. I prefer a soft lead cast ball for hunting.

The biggest cost now for ML shooting is the powder...I think I paid around $60 for a lb of BH209....

I should also mention Higginson's in Hawksbury sells Hornady bullets for Muzzle Loaders...pretty good prices. They also sell Triple 7 powder there for $32/lb...check the Hornady PDF link at the following link:

Triple 7 is about the same cost as black, Blackhorn is now $80 / 10oz at Cabelas, I will probably start there for powder, yes it is costly but not as bad as $1.50 a shot for blister pack bullets that are exactly the same as the $0.60 ones if you just buy pistol bullets and sabots.

Rick will cast soft lead if you ask, he has a .430 mold at 300gr, soft lead and no lube would work just fine, he also has .452 molds for pistol bullets in a sabot as well as 2 different Mini bullets for the 45 for $0.18 each.

Ya, talk to Gord at the old Co-op, he is a good guy, Wes is pretty good too, he just does not deal with the guns anymore.

Considering a drive to Hawksbury would cost over $20 in gas...anything less is a good deal

Good thing I only use 44gr per shot so it's 1/2 price per-shot compared to the black powder substitutes...

Not actually true, the energy of the substitutes is greater for the same weight, they are less dense. 777 for example is about 75gr by weight for 100gr by volume. So an 80gr by volume load is about 60gr by volume and your can of powder is sold by volume. So, when you compare to smokeless you save about $20 over the entire volume of your powder, Pyrodex is even cheaper, Blackhorn 209 is just god awful expensive, ha ha.
