I wish I could sit down with you and explain my justification for my hatred of the 270, and it does not have anything to do with its effectiveness, except that it blows the living piss out of a deer at too close a range, much like any high velocity rounds, as a longer range cartridge it works great but I will never buy one :P

Very interesting, and we see that the highly touted [here] 6.5x55 Swede, is listed way down in # 58 spot and the despised [by some] , .270 is way up in #19 spot, [TOP 20]-- HMMM WONDER WHY ???

Otherwise by looking at the data,this is a rather vaguely composed list ,and probably could be used for not much more then entertainment.

Plus-as it was mentioned,they do not even bother with double reporting 2 calibers...........speaks volumes abut the accuracy of the study.

I ran some numbers,based on this sales report Mike.

If we agree that the report deals with non hunter calibers,black powder,rim fire and shotgun calibers ,all together,lets see taken this report to pieces,omitting non hunting calibers.After all,we are on Hunting Forum,not shooting forum..........

Just as a peculiarity,the so much heralded 6.5 mm Creedmore made the 69-th place. The going out 270 at 265 sales vs 19 sales of 6.5 mm Creedmor .
I made some small mistakes perhaps, here and there-sorry for that.

Seems 308 rules in hunting calibers,with 12 gage-50 cal and 22 LR in other categories.
My note on 308-many guns here are perhaps sold as plinking - shooting platforms,not hunting arms.Which makes 30-06 being the "second"first.

True..as good as the .270 is (was) , it fell from grace in 40 yrs..a short time in the longevity of most ammunition.

At 19th place is doesn't seem to have fallen from grace, even in a country that loves their pistols and AR's. Check your math it's approaching a century old...lol
