Scope recommendations

Hi Everyone, looking for scope recommendations for my 30.06. I used to hunt mostly in the bush and have used open sights my whole life. Now that we are hunting a new area I am often in places where I can see a couple hundred yards or more and am looking for something that would be good for both up close and a bit of distance. Figuring $300-500 is my range. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a couple Leupold VXR, had a couple VX3, had a couple Burris, a Sightron and always go back to Bushnell 4500. I think I have 4 or 5.
IMO if you want to spend 400 to 500 dollars, these are the best scopes hands down for your money with a lifetime warranty.
Last night I ordered from Cabelas the Bushnell Elite 4500-4x-4-16x50. Tax in, shipped was $509.00
I'm putting this on my Sauer 7mm Rem Mag.
The 2.5x10 might be perfect for your needs?

Go online to the big store websites (Cabelas, Sail, Latulippe, etc) to see what is available in your price range. Once you come up with a short list, search online for the best deals on those scopes. Before you buy you should check out as many scopes in person and look through them for clarity and reticle.

Check which scopes comes with the best warranty. Manufacturers such as Tasco, Weaver, Bushnell, and Leupold have been around forever and make good products.

Some other things to think about include magnification, zoom range, objective diameter, eye relief, and reticle type. Many of these features are personal preference, so it’s up to you to figure out what you like.

I’ve noticed that the price of scopes have gone up over the years which means that even your entry level scopes are getting up there in price which means that $600 isn’t going to buy you the best of the line. I went through several scopes before I found a keeper (Leupold Vari-X 3 2.5 X 10 X 50). Good luck shopping.

Many people always recommend Vortex for price and glass quality. I personally have a bushnell elite 4500 , for about 6 years or so. It’s a 2.5-10. It’s been great, never had issues hunting In the rain or banging it around through the bush.

Thank you eveyone for the advice. I went into my local gunshop and I believe I have narrowed it down to the following scopes. bushnell elite 4500 2.5-10x40mm or the burris fullfield IV 2.5-10x42mm. Leaning toward the bushnell. Going to have one last look tomorrow and then make the decision. Thanks again everyone.

I use Vortex Scopes on all of my rifles. Clear, hold their zero and reasonably priced
