I posted a article from a local paper recently showing a 105 old lady - she attributed her longevity to having a glass of Yuengling beer every day - the one thing I always wonder about is the effects of all the electro/magnetic waves passing through us all day long - we literally live in a sea of this energy from all the communications going on around us - do these waves damage our cells - x-rays do so why wouldn't these do the same

You are exactly right about that. Here we have a study saying that alcohol consumption can increase your cancer risk, while another study points out the benefits of alcohol in reducing the risks of heart attacks. So make your choice - imbibe and increase cancer risk, or abstain and increase cardio risk.

A report from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study examined the drinking habits of more than 38,000 men over a 12-year period. Moderate drinkers were 30-35% less likely to have had a heart attack than non-drinkers. This reduction was observed among men who drank wine, beer, or spirits, and was similar for those who drank with meals and those who drank outside of meal time. This study also found that the frequency of drinking may matter: Men who drank light to moderate amounts three or more days per week had a lower risk of heart attack than those who drank once or twice a week.

Look at whom or what organization sponsors and where the financing comes from for these various "studies" and simply follow the money. I don't watch the CBC as a matter of principle, regarding every last word out of their pathetic mouths as pure unadulterated bullshyte liberal-leftist propaganda. I'm sure this article is no different.

I'm thinking I'll keep my fishing rods and the rest of my bad habits, they're the only things that have kept me from self destructing a long time ago.

Amen to that. Fishing rods anything else that helps get away on your own.

Reminds me of an old joke:

A guy goes to the Dr for checkup. After the checkup the Dr asks-do You smoke?
The guy says-Yes,1.5 pack a day!
The Dr ,all concerned ,says-Do You realize ,the Nicotine will slowly kill You?
The guy-amazed ,replies-It will slowly kill me?-Dr. i am in no particular rush to die anyway

My doc once told me that 3 beers a day was too much. I asked him "How come there's more old drunks than there are old doctors?"

In this case, the Cancer warnings were removed due to pressure from the Alcohol Industry...big money at stake.
