To what I have been led to believe is that most of the SPCA's money or should I say comes from PETA. I for one will not support that institution in the least!!!

Bingo. Next time he shows up at your door start yelling HELP HELP call police and when they show up say he was threatening to kill your dogs. It what these lunatics do best.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

It's annoying when that happens for no reason. Sometimes though they need to be called and I'm glad they are there.
2 incidents which prompted me to call.

1/ A new house was being built. Owners saw it as a good chance to get of their dog for a while. Dog was tied in the muddy field - no shelter , no water. fed?? I checked several times over the course of a week then called.( Couldn't see any people to talk to except construction workers on the property.)

    2/

My neighbor would go away for up to a week at a time and leave his Doberman in a room in the house with water and food.( Imagine the room when he came back.) I talked to him and of course he said F.O. This is the neighbor who went to prison for running over a policeman and who had a murder in his home , so I don't like to push it too far with him. I could hear the dog crying daily . If he ate all his food on day 1 or spilled his water, he was out of luck for a week. Humane Society said there was nothing they could do. I offered to care for the dog when owner was away but that only lasted one time as the dog was vicious.

Now you can criticize what I did( reporting) , but I have no regrets.

I'm pretty sure that it's the other way around, but, you're still correct. ALL SPCA and Humane Societies support PETA and IFAW with budgeted donations from fees they collect and donations from unsuspecting people that think that they're "doing somethimg good for the puppies and kitties." That's one of themain reassons they were stripped of Charitable Donation status by CRA and the federal government. Scammers...every one of them.

My dogs go outside on their lead for 10 minutes at a time, just to do their business - then they're back in the house.

Honestly, some folks just need to mind their own business. What it most likely was; was someone walking by the house (we have get quite a bit of pedestrian traffic) and saw the dogs on their lead, then one their way back from the store (or whatever), the dogs were outside again an hour or so later.

What concerns me however is; when he came to the door the puppy was currently in his crate and started barking and yipping, which he does when someone is at the door. He reminded us that the puppy isn't to be crated for longer than 10 minutes at a time. Really? 10 minutes? I find that interesting because all crate training information I've ever read state to get them comfortable with their crate, and that the crate can be used as a "safe" place to put the puppy when you're busy around the house, or away from home. I should also mention, that Dave is currently 20 pounds and placed in a crate large enough for a great dane (we got the crate from my mother who used to own a great dane).

Anyways, this may be just a rant - but, I'm outraged.
Are you dogs bark a lot while outside? If so, maybe one of your neighbor got tired of it and called them?!
Just need to find which one now.....

I can't say it well as you , but almost every group? has the down side.... SPCA, Children's Aid, etc.. but the bottom line is that a dog got saved or an abused child got help.

Neither bark unless it's time to come in the house. Misty will go as far as to open the door and let herself in the house, the puppy hasn't got enough weight behind him to do that yet.

We are always conscious of them being outdoors in the winter and the summer, and rarely ever is the puppy ever left outside without someone standing at the window or doorway watching him. My wife is home with a 2 year old and two dogs on a daily basis - she can't walk them, and she can't walk Misty to begin with (she's a strong puller and I've never discouraged her from it). I walk them each morning and after dinner.

Yeah,I know,Sharon, but, that's the very least they could do with the money they collect. Every municipal dog pound has to cough up dough for the Ontaio Humane Society, too, which is very active in the animal rights/anti-hunting community, also, supporting the usual suspect lunatic fringe. Did you know that outfits like Animal Alliance Canada,IFAW and some other fringe radicals are listed on the CSIS website as urban terrorist groups?
