The H1N1 type flu runs thru these LCT /Nursing home annually and kill a whack of old people. Many are clinging to life with a myriad of compromised health concerns. Most families have DNRs to prevent prolonging what is inevitable. The flues just speed up the process and cover off what the MAID program won't approve.
It's sad, but having had a good buddy in an LTC ....dying was an escape for him.
Covid was/is more aggressive and killed more than normal but in the end, these people were already at the end of their journey., With a proper triage in a health emergency, they would be low on a priority ranking.

See a problem here ? Spacing out the vaccine might not work in there favor. Some get it in the spring will not really help when the fall bug comes back out or the entire flu season. They might be protected in the spring but they won't likely be protected come winter .

A DNR order does not mean that they are not treated for whatever disease they may have, they would still be treated for covid as anyone else was. They would not be resuscitated if they went into cardiac arrest. Usually done by CPR or defib.

Reminder...this is in a city of 1.2 million people. The latest numbers say there are 29 Covid patients in the hospitals..that is .002% of the population. With only 323 active cases (.03% of pop) the Covid virus in Ottawa is really not an issue. Hospitalisations have been in decline all of Nov.
On Oct 8th there are 33 in Hospitals including 8 in the ICU.
On Oct 16th there were 47 in Hospitals with 8 in the ICU.
On Nov 14th..there are 60 in the Hospitals and 8 in the ICU
On Nov 25th there are 29 in the Hospital and 2 in the ICU
Locally (Leed Grenville) we have dropped from 17 case in mid Nov to only 7 active cases now..that is in a population of 173,000 or .004 % of pop

If a few MPs could decide for the whole country what laws they want to put in place, without any constitutional checks in place, that is when really, really bad stuff starts to happen ... and I'm afraid Turdeau doesn't really care about our constitutional rights. For Canada we see higher death rates than other parts like Spain and the USA.
Canada has 3.4 death rate but they are screwing with the numbers adding additional deaths and not counting any asymptomatic people.
Again without a covid patient center what are our doctors learning? Yea they all see a few cases but as I said before you don't go to the cancer ward for a broken leg.
I personally think that if they had dedicated area's and teams strictly working on covid patients it would help save many lives. It like anything the more you work on one thing the better you will become.

No it won't, protections and priorities on long term care facilities (98.5% of deaths, see earlier posts), screening to slow the spread while facilities prepared, training staff and PPE... those would have reduced deaths, but no screening at airports until too late, lots of fear mongering and little else and PPE sent to China.... SO to the elites which is more important.... the old people that most likely would vote Conservative and aren't going to pay huge tax increases etc OR the "chance"? It was interesting to see the stats that the weekly deaths are actually down (reduced accidents, reduced flu...) that theRebel showed on the statscan page... other causes will likely be up in the long term due to reduced healthcare but openly talking about the WEF 2030, then forcing the closing of small businesses while ignoring the large ones.... seems to me "the opportunity" is more important to them!Quote:

Like was said before, most of those dying in LTC, have DNR orders. Many more seniors could have been saved if not for those orders. I do not know if people are aware but LTC is not just for old people. They used to be called 'Homes for the aged". When I started in LTC 95% of the residents were over the age of 75. When I left over 30 years later about 40% were over 75. The rest was made up with younger people, some as young as 21, they do not have DNR orders. Why? Mike Harris and the conservative government cut funding for group homes, that looked after the younger crowd in need. They had to be moved into LTC because it was less expensive. We had many semi-private rooms, where one resident was 90 years old the other in the room was 25. For some residents of LTC , they are there to die. For many others they are there to live. If you enter a LTC facility in your 20's ,that could be your home for 40 years. When I first started in the early 80's the average length of stay was 8 months. When I retired half of the residents in our home , were younger than I was. They will still be living in the home ( LTC), long after I have perished.
Then there is the inconvenient truth...It was the Liberal government's 'Canada Health and Social Transfer (CHST) that lead to those decisions...
