Well its off to the LCBO I go! Then the wife n I will pack up our stuff and off to the cabin we go! She works at a high school so there'll be a nice extended xmas break from the nonsense of the world. Sucks to be retired with no kids to be concerned about, (no basement dwellers at my house!)but we'll try to make the best of it?
Even if there was a basement dwelling under you, you have the right to do whatever you wanted lol.
If you decide to leave on vacation it does not need to involve the person under the stairs.
That's the thing about adults they can manage their own they don't need to follow you . They have their own lives and living quarters doesn't matter what you do lol.
Unless you invite them your business is your business do as you please it has no bearing if you have someone in your basement.

It's to try and stop the holiday gatherings .

My feelings exactly:

The government of New South Wales,Australia has locked down the entire City of Sydney by restricting all travel in and out of the city rather than shutting down the entire state. We should do the same with the Center of the Universe (Toronto-Peel) for 90 days with automatic $10K fines for violators.
What are lock downs doing I see Toronto had a Christmas parade today .
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
Thing is we need everyone to shutdown not this small part we are all essential not just what they think is essential.
Go for a drive around any location that is under a grey lockdown. Tell me what you see then you will see why this small business stuff is not going to solve the problem.
Get prepared and shut it down . If there are 5 grocery store in you town shut 3 down
Keeping things open only enticing the people to go out . If 5 of the 7 gas stations are closed people will stay home .
Then again it need to be globally done.
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
I thought masks were going to solve everything? Good thing they are mandatory.
Didn't see 5000 shoppers in China shopping did you? LoL
We gotta be stricked or nothing serious or not . If the government ain't serious who are we expected to be ?
No busses no work no traffic no drive thru's.
Emergencies only
Never mind this half way stuff
But this is definitely not the time best time for good hard lockdown is when the virus is less susceptible . Like may or June .

So I asked in the past when all this sh** started what your plans are for the next two weeks... just keep thinking that, two weeks at a time, make plans .... that and Laura Secord Liquor in a hot tea will help. Maybe make some 5 and 10 year plans too... do you want a new degree, take courses, become a pilot, wood worker, gun smith, get lean and fit, build a CVA rifle kit, build your own fishing rods or lures.....
Here we go again, punishment of rural Ontario for the sins of the big doo dee hole city.
Sent from my SM-G973W using Tapatalk
Not necessarily punishment. I see it as protection. If the city gets locked down which it is, city dwellers will head further outside the gta for their shopping fix. It will be a domino effect. I think it’s more for protection, keep the urban people far from spreading to rural areas.
And what's stopping people from leaving the city ? They had a parade today nothing stopping it .
If it's going to be the same as we have now or even the beginning it's not much of a lockdown. Rds are still busy and were the entire first time. It only worked the first time because we had passed the season .
If the same restrictions are in place all of Ontario it won't stop the spread . To many still working to stop it when it's closing in on its peak.
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
LOL Do you know what's a real son-of-a-b****? It's when they pull these lock downs, but,to us retired folks,it doesn't seem to make a whole he** of lot of difference because the beer fridge, bar, freezer and pantry is full and the vehicles are fueled up all the time. Screw it,I hope it snows three feet.
Why Ford hasn’t brought the hammer down before now.
Votes.......
Once again the entire province pays prices for the spoiled, pampered people in the gta.
We saw this coming a few weeks ago, so my fiancé’ got to see her Step Father. Likely won’t be around come spring. Last Xmas and all that. Kind of sad he didn’t get that with the grandchildren.......Divorced families with young children???? Soooo many.
At least he let some people that rely on such times to make a few bucks. How long will it last?
Who knows...
There’s only one thing, people get.
Their wallets.
Funny, they have the ability to bring the hammer down for months... could have/arguably should jacked taxes as well.
If, if and buts we’re nut and bolts.
Want this crap to end?
Money talks.
What no admonishment of T21,for his poor attitude? If I had said that you would have lost your mind, again. Selective much? Content doesn't matter. It all depends on who says it. Shoot the messenger comes to mind.
Omg. Here we go. You seriously need to learn how to adult. As well as think.
I don’t give to “s” if Gilroy/Trimmer. Get into it.that’s between them...... Adults know when to use their brains and avoid something. You know steer clear, or walk on eggshells/tread carefully...Unlike you....
Obviously your butt hurt and immature having been undressed soooooooooooooooooooo many times. If you could think rationally, you might have grasped that in the other thread....
Adults don’t stalk other people, start or try to start crap in multiple threads. Don’t intentionally start....... .
I won’t put up with your childish crap, nor trolling. No one should. Not here, not Facebook, not in the real world. Life doesn’t work that way.
I can’t count how many threads your either trying to start , making things about other things, L/C who gives a flying F
It’s December 21st 2020 child.
Focus.
JBEN,
I am pretty much in the same boat as Trimmer and even Mikepal I don't think the lock down's have had a great deal of affect because we are retired. The only difference is that I am with "the pampered people in the GTA". I am not quite sure what you mean by that in relation to Covid because they are probably suffering more than you or your kin.
I was not hampered by lock down's to much and still get out and exercise and hunt and fish all this year. I do not understand why you are so restricted.
In relation to money I think the Federal Government has tried its best to roll out help to those in need, its clear some took advantage and its also clear there was some miscommunication about who was eligible.
I am not at all clear what would make you happy.
The big picture for me, it won't really make a damn bit of difference. The wife may be home a little more meaning a few less splake on the line until she's sick of me but thats about it. I have 1600' of red pine flooring to put down, starting the second storey in a 28X40 barn today and a whole lot of fish calling my name.
I do feel sorry for all the rural businesses, places that have been doing their part, limiting numbers and cleaning like OCD fiends. I feel bad for the children that like school, they don't get to go back here even though not one of them has brought Covid to a school, every school case in Renfrew County..... staff linked.
Like I said, its sad, and the big city is probably quite proud of their newest accomplishment.
Sent from my SM-G973W using Tapatalk
Ditto. Not retired yet but my reaction to this lockdown is the same as the last one. No biggie. Always have food and supplies on hand to get through a couple of months particularly in winter. I'll miss shooting clays at the club on the weekend but if it bothers me that much I can bang off a few rounds in the bush lot. No panic here.
Gilroy, “devil is the details”.
Go back to the spring. It wasn’t small areas that had people flooding Kew beach, bluffers park, and more. Nor is it rocket science why. Nor is it rocket science why Durham started checking people addresses a couple weeks ago. Handing out some tickets. Nor is it rocket science why PTBO were refusing GTA residents at testing centres. And on and on and on.
With respect to money.
FFS how hard is to think about the demographics that are being hurt the most in 2020?
Pampered/privelaged
Damn right they are....
Walk a mile.....
With respect to this lockdown. Province wide.
Makes sense. At least within a certain radius of the city. Too many people are going leave and or go in to the city. As I said, at least Ford waited for the bulk of the X-Mas shopping season to be done. I called x-mad eve 3-4 weeks ago.
Maybe you don’t get the economic aspects of everything. You don’t want or need for much....do you?
So you are saying that if I post on a thread that you have commented on, that I am stalking you? Talk about childish. When I see posted information that is incorrect, misleading or slanderous, I feel I must speak up for those that won't, because of your irrational responses, name calling , insults, etc. I do not think you could post without disparaging someone. If I do not agree with you, does not make me a troll. While you try to shut others down, stop their comments, if they do not agree with you. For whatever your reason, that is wrong. The more you type, the easier it is for others to see your bullying ways.
JBEN
Do you view this as some type of government conspiracy, is the Covid real to you?
Do you not think the Federal Government has tried to help the citizens.
Do you not think our Provincial Government has also tried to help the citizens.
The fall out from this is Worldwide and the folk's at the bottom of the pile always come out worse. True?
I am less affected because as you say I do not want for much or need for much.
But do not think for a moment "we don't get it".
Grow up Gord.
Any one with a brain knows you were referring to me.in this one. Carrying over. You’ve done that in the past many times as well. And have specifically used my “name” in another. And let’s not forget your an admitted Troll.
And that’s just the curt, short reply albeit polite reply.
Grow the F up
Lol.
That’s quite the leap Gilroy. Half of it, not logical given I’ve defended the spending many times? Though not always all details?
Now a question for you.
I’m not the only person in this thread that’s essentially said, “rural gets screwed again”... nor am I the only person that in essence has said “we need to bring the hammer down”...on the GTA. Somehow.
not now, not back in the spring..
In this or others.
Nor is that an uncommon sentiment “out there” in the press/world.
So if you “get it” and get all that..Then why the F is there an issue with me saying it?
This has got to be the biggest aspect of stupidity related to the lockdown. Reducing store hours and closing stores only results in larger amounts of contact between more people.
Dynacare has shut down many of its labs in Ottawa. Normally for a blood test, I can run in and get the test done in about 10 minutes and come in contact with no more than about 5 people in the waiting room. But now they've closed many of the clinics, so now for the same thing, I wait three hours and come into close contact with between 50 and 100 people all also waiting. So how are these "covid measures" helping.
Same think at the liquor store. Reduced hours. So now instead of being in the store with about 5 other people, it's double that.
In March, when they shut down every second cash at the Kanata can-tire for social distancing, the resulting lineup went half-way around the store. From where I was, I could count 72 people, but I couldn't see the whole line.
Apparently the people making these rules don't understand what end-result they are trying to achieve - less people in contact with each other.
It's a level of stupidity that is hard to comprehend.
Here we are in Ottawa - 18 hospitalisations, 0 ICU patients. And were getting locked down. FFS.
JBEN
"So if you “get it” and get all that..Then why the F is there an issue with me saying it?
I have zero issue with you expressing your opinions, I might not agree with you on them but you should have your say.
The government is not encouraging greater numbers in less stores. They are telling everyone to stay home. Only go out for absolute necessities, essential travel only. What can the government do, if the citizens won't listen? Make it more difficult and time consuming so people wont say' I'm just going to pop out for a few things". Ask the people in line what was so essential, that they must go to the store, christmas presents? Look in their baskets I bet 95% of what was in there, is not essential to their lives, or worthy of a shopping trip during a lock down.
I agree with you a lot of what is happening makes zero sense. I can go to Costco this morning and line up with 60 people ,when there is plenty of room in the store to safe distance, I have more of a chance of getting COVID in the line up?
In relation to Dynacare I logged on 1st December for a blood test get an immediate appointment. Drove over in and out in 12 minutes.
Months ago I logged online and ordered a valtag, no problems, paid by Visa it came in the mail a week later.
My friend tried it last week, could not get through on their site. Drove over to service Ontario waited in a line up, was then told by security he needed "an appointment to come in" .He had to drive to another service Ontario, line up and got it.
I hope they don’t shut down county forests like last time. I need to get the kids out for their weekly bushcraft lessons.
And we all have the choice to reply or not, or express our own, choose our words when we do reply to someone. Etc .
One thing I did not address. Was deciding if I should or not.
After 20 years of the same demographics taking it on the chin. Because you right, they always do. And that’s backed up by mountains of data.
Maybe it’s time they become more of a priority?
Let’s get back on topic shall we..
Leeds Grenville has a population of 173,000 across 6,500 sq.miles and has only 50 cases... (11 in one school)..all in quarantine. Chances of being exposed are practically nil...yet everyone still seems to be doing their part..I know of no one who has or is infected. .
I have heard there's a noticeable increase in 'Shopping' traffic from the City and surprisingly from Que to our Canadian Tire store.
This was overkill...by a long shot. But there is a political agenda afoot, a lockdown was required for their social engineering experiment.
Mike,
In part, that is why I mentioned taxes. If it were truly all about changing behaviours. In this case SD.
Hefty fines and taxes ( on the big box reaping billions).....or even on the problem region. People would get on board. Right fast!..
Makes no sense...none.
There isn’t a single good reason your area should be locked down again. Overkill and then some.
Maybe to prevent those city dwellers from coming to your safe areas? Like the line ups in Pickering this week, all those people were from locked down areas, coming to shop here.
It's to stop the holiday and new years bashes that's all
Why is this one just temporary? And not like the other 28 days ? Just to stop the Xmas and new years gatherings .

Hope your not lumping the store staff, truck drivers, and other NON-GOVERNMENTAL service workers in the wrong group.
Camp stoves, hot plates, inverters, microwave ovens, portable fridges and stuff are showing up in highway trucks.
There are states that have locked down so tight, that there is not even take out food for drivers. Or there is no take out food places drivers can get to.
$26 for a delivery pizza....$32 delivery charge. $58 for a meal...or two.
Yup SW , some would be considered essential. Most you could live a good life without. You could not buy most of them at CT. If ALL stores were completely shut down, could you not live without most of them for a couple of weeks? When you run out next week, will you line up again , while complaining about line ups and people not following lock down directives?
I am not trying to lump anyone in with this. I think the person who drew this picture was trying to make the point that "no we aren't really in this together". The people in the boat are the culprits, the politicians, media, and PS (health unit) are pushing the lockdowns and the police enforce it. If the people pushing and enforcing the lockdowns were to lose their paychecks, there probably wouldn't be a lockdown.
All businesses are essential to its employees and their families.
Your inability to recognize Sarcasm could be a very serious problem..
https://www.healthcentral.com/articl...poral-dementia
Sarcasm....I do recognise it. Depending who it is from , I may choose to ignore it.
Yep........From Oakville to St.Catharines the malls are filled with 416'ers. Ideally they should ask for ID at the doors to the mall (much like they did for public beaches in the summer), and turn away anyone residing in a lockdown area but that would mean turning away $$$.
Hell Limeridge Mall took out radio ad's stating it was extending their hours - fricken idiots! Might as well just invite the GTA over for a BBQ
Needless to say shut'er down, and take the highways down as well while you are at it.
Yes we need more shutdown
My friend is a manager at a home hardware he said the first Lockdown people just came in to walk around .
If your going to shut down let's shut down
Not this 80 percent open and 20 percent shut down.
If its not taken seriously who's going to listen?

I don't know about you guys, but I just have a lousy feeling about all this. It's depressing, families are really struggling, lonely ... it's killing us slowly. We are social creatures. To many, family is everything ... and to be torn apart like this ... it's not good.
I just have this feeling that we are walking into the beginning of the end. If we end up with inter-city traffic control, enforced by police ... it pretty much would confirm it for me. We would be moving quickly towards a military state ... you guys must know that isn't going to be good, right?
No one in my immediate family has missed a paycheck because of this.
But we are well aware of the hardship caused to those who are affected by it.
You want to see fairness in a lockdown? Pay for the 2k/month CERB by docking everyone who is working or collecting a pension so their gross pay is only 2k/month.
See how far you get with a lockdown then - when we are actually all in it together. But now I'm sounding like a communist....
When I look at the image jakezilla posted, I can't but help of the book Animal Farm.
We have already separated our society into the pigs and the "other animals".
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
Similar thoughts Werner. Though I know a lot of people that have been hit hard financially. none of them in retail or service.
An electrician that runs his own business. Big contracts with Starbucks and others...So he is losing business and I don't know how he sleeps at night with the lack of cash flow and debt needed to run his business... This is costing him tens/hundreds of thousands.....
Salesmen.....
many others.
Out large
That image made the rounds of facebook a few weeks ago. Very accurate imo...
Back in the spring many who were safely collecting paychecs, would share memes about WW11 with images of vets. "All we are asking you to do is sit on the couch".
Last I checked most Canadians volunteered to be sacrificed. And those at home sacrificed large too.
My how times have changed.
Jben, for some of us collecting those checks, things are not good. Even though we are still working, expenses for making that check have gone up.
Some times it feels like I came down the ramp with 50 or 60 other people, and there is no one left but me..
I’m kinda of referring to that Snow walker. That’s why I highlighted none are in retail or service.
Salesmen or business owners are still working, making sure others have “toilet paper” or widgets. Doesn’t mean they aren’t taking hits. Big ones.
While the SS largely unaffected cruises to shore.
I can't watch the news anymore nor listen to the radio. Too damn depressing. I dont give a flying F what goes on in the city, I have my house, the farm and the hunt camp to keep me busy and outside away from the crowds.

Fiancé and I were talking about that last night Mike.
Her niece and her fiancé are in advertising. Both make well over 100g you know where. They’ve been looking at cottages. Hoping to capitalize on some other families cough....bad luck..
They’ve decided to buy in Columbia ( why we can’t figure that out). S America isn’t in good shape. All they need is a good connection....
As for “Columbia”.
Well their employer pays taxes, “here”...and their taxes to Canada. And it’s not like there’s any real benefit to what ever small town they buy in.
The way my fiancé sees it. Is well soon enough all those employers will cut cost. Why pay outrageous salaries to Canadians working remotely when anyone in India can to
Doug: "So Dear, we are placing all of Ontario into a mandatory lockdown effective December 24th 12:01 am"
Wife: " What do you mean? What about the kids coming over for Christmas dinner? How are they going to get past the reporters parked at the door?
You idiot! No sex for you in the next 28 days"
Doug: "Alright, alright! I will make it the 26th instead. Happy now?"
.....and so Christmas was celebrated at the Ford residence and the Grinch stayed away for another year.
Incase anyone’s missed it.
28 days. So not just to get through X-mas break and people visiting families
14 days all of Ontario
28 days southern Ontario. I didn't look up where the line is.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toron...-pdf-1.5850224
thanks.
We are 28 days.
Needless to say people here are PO'd to say the least.
Southern Ont 28 days....
https://i.imgur.com/mxICJPnl.jpg
Lol, someone I know just posted on FB.
"We have 5 cases, no hospitlizations".
One person responded, yeah those poor overworked nurses. Alteast they can feed their kids. I "shyte" you not. That's a quote.
The general consensus seems to be FU Ford and lest we ruffle sensitivities similiar towards people in the GTA
But being polite Canadians, I doubt there will be an outright revolt. Ugly sure, I can see that coming
Recent polls have suggested that over 80 % of Ontario is in favour of a full lock down. Granted Most of them in favour are in urban areas in southern Ontario ,but so is 87% of the population. So you are right there will be a lot of grumbling but no uprising. Lots of letters to the editor.
That would be the 80% that rarely thinks about anyone else?
I've been on FB the last little while reading different people walls/comments. Social media, is more of a "snap shot" of society than any paper ( certain types read A or B). Over and over seeing two types of comments.
From friends in the GTA.
Sucks for small businesses. Oh well...
Friends outside the GTA
"Halliburton and the Kawarthas have had 10 cases in each of the last two days"
"Those poor overworked..."
"Citiots"
"FU Ford"
etc....
Will it get Alberta hostile? US style hostile?
doubtfull, and that's a "shame".
Will say, the people here are "PO"d. Wondering what it mean for business, will we stay open, how much worse can it get its already been a bad year etc.
And this is a cottage type area. If memory serves me right, things got nasty in the spring..
Remember polls can be manipulated fit to any agenda. Just like the death count is manipulated to fit the agenda .
Have you figured out who will have the opportunity lol. This pandemic is a great opportunity for who? Why does this give opportunity ? To who for what reason?
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
Hey ford did say he was going to get scanning and testing at the airport.
Apparently the liberals can't do it and ford will take action if the government chooses to ignore the issue lol.
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
Yea he mentioned Ride type stops the moment they leave Federal Property..rather pointless if 400 passengers come off the flight and they are not committed to screening them and then sending the positive ones to a quarantine center.
The feds should refuse entry of any non-Canadians. Test the one that are and quarantine them...if they were really serious about 'flattening the curve'....of course they aren't and never were. Easier to let them head to our city centres and let the province deal with it.
I think he’s Mississauga.
One possible explanation is coming out. That mutation might be in Windsor.
https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/...ore-contagious
I still think it should just be a radius outside. Where we are we’re close enough that’s there’s a lot of to/from.
28 days will kill people given for many it’s already been a brutal year.
Problem for me. Is if that’s what 80% want and Ford want. Than man up, sacrifice as well. Join the SS were all in “the same boat”
Again, what we're told is the shutdown is to avoid overwhelming hospitals and the healthcare system.
Was the "second wave" a surprise or something? They've been projecting the impending doom and gloom of the second wave for months, yet we've done nothing to bolster hospital/ICU space? Wouldn't something as simple as a couple of extra ICU beds per hospital and the supporting staff have been enough to avoid this again?
\pulls tinfoil hat on tighter\
They did they said they added 1500 hundreds beds spent billions more that they would have on any other year.
But honestly only 1500 extra beds for over 14 million people in Ontario is silly.
What is even more silly they are going to cancel other problems to deal with covid . I have said it before but covid should not done at our local hospital I'm sure there are plenty of other options to avoid the other health crisis we have.
Ps
The number of beds they gave Ontario is barley enough to fix the over crowded hospital that's been an issue for years. Never mind a second wave .
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
Keep in mind that a bed requires staff either x3 RN's (8hrs shifts) every days) or x2 RNs (12 hrs shift) every days. Plus support staff and Dr's etc etc... 'A' bed is very expensive...estimate about $2K a day...(what they charge an out of province patient.)
edit add: that's a normal ward bed...the ICU beds are more..a $million a year is conservative
As a result, Ontario has a total of 20,354 acute care beds with a potential for an additional 4,205 more acute care beds by April 30, 2020. Of Ontario's 3,504 critical care beds, 2,811 are now equipped with ventilators, up from 1,319 when the outbreak first started.
https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/56688/ontario-significantly-expands-hospital-capacity-to-prepare-for-any-covid-19-outbreak-scenario
We are shutting down because people are protesting the lockdowns and taking to the streets in large numbers now.
There were demonstrations in Toronto, Ottawa, Cornwall,...recently.
https://www.iheartradio.ca/cjad/news...-19-1.14206261
Doesn't surprise me Impact. As I said earlier, people, especially those that have been taking it on the chin, are getting pissed.
Many businesses aside from the obvious retail/hospitality are hurting. Else why 2k/month and government aid to state the obvious. Now many are looking at another month. And even if they remain open as ours will be. Well if customers aren't coming through the doors......
I'm just not sure what level of ugly this might get. US ugly by mid, late January?
Human nature is human nature.
We are in these types of lockdown till spring .
There will be another we will be opening back up at high peak and cases will to continue .
March is the next one coming lol.
Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk
Why are international airports still open ffs?
I have also tried to minimize watching or listening to the news.
Last spring when it all blew up, I figured at least the weather was warming up and people would be outside more where spreading might be lessened. Different story now.
And as I’ve said before, our biggest vulnerability is if our pals to the South can’t get it together - and I don’t like the trajectory that they’re on - since April. Almost 300 calendar days till they hit 9 million - 52 days for the next 9 million.
This is gonna be the longest winter of our lives.
Not to pile on with bad news, but some of the little pieces and cogs of the logistics supply chain are wearing out or failing.
Boss was chatting today..we need more trailers and drivers. Why? Because the smaller single truck and three/four truck operators are losing the maintenance and parts fight. They normally cover our extra loads, but without trucks to drive they can't.
In the last 10 months I have personally had three trucks end up in the dealership for repairs. Repairs that should have been a week are taking a month or more. Parts are running out, and parts are wearing out.
Six months to get a fan clutch on one truck. Parts warehouses normally have enough that if you can't get today, it's here tomorrow..
Been thinking about that SW.Supply logistics are hitting a number of industries.
A few friends seem to think only selling essentials (shrink wrap all else) is a good idea.
Point out, if you do that, you choke production. Why make what’s not selling. Or why make the stuff, that’s needed to make other stuff.
Is this where we begin to regret not caring about manufacturing?
Flights from London are on schedule for tomorrow according to the airport... didn't Justin Trudeau say there was a 72 hours ban or something, I guess he Just Lied.
https://www.torontopearson.com/en/arrivals
Been hearing this more lately.
International airports need to stay open because there are essential workers that travel internationally. These workers are essential to the world economy that our local economies are built on. The link below is a live map of all the ships at sea right now, every ship out there right now is essential for one reason or another. All these ships are full of sailors and specialists that spend months at sea. They don't live in the ports they visit and they need to get home to see their families. You can't just shut down shipping, just like you can't shut down trucking, this is part of the supply chain. COVID has already thrown a big monkey wrench into shipping, 1 or 2 month rotations have turned into 4 or 6 month rotations,. People are trapped on vessels because they can't get replacements due to restrictions or embassies being locked down so visas can't be issued.
International travel isn't just people on vacation, it's business.
https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...ry:22.7/zoom:2
We are seeing it in our business Trimmer. Inventories for a lot of things are way, way down. Had to get a guy approved for a 40k loan.
Something to do with his truck being dead. The needed part was going to be 6 to 8 weeks.
Another thing we are seeing is the US buying a ton. I'm guessing for the same reasons. Their inventory is down, so buy from here.
There's a part of me, that is ok with some comeuppance. It's needed.
And not taxes and greed there too? Why not policies and Hydro. Plenty of blame to go around. As I've so often said, it both
Why progressives? Me anyways, I can point to receive threads and people not caring much about about those that don't have it so good.
But mainly I point to 2003 to 2018 and the GTA not giving a damn.
Would not Mulroney be at least partially responsible? The FTA is part of the reason we have less manufacturing in Canada than before. We send them the ingredients and they send us back the finished product. Caring about others , or not , is not the refuge of one particular party. The GTA was where most of those manufacturing jobs were lost.
We've often talked about fear mongering by the media and politicians ..here's the headline this morning:
Quote:
Canada's largest province to impose holiday lockdown to avoid 'catastrophic' Covid fallout
Quote:
There will be more than 200 COVID-19 patients in intensive care in Ontario hospitals for the next month in even the best case scenario and the number could cross 500 if public health restrictions are relaxed, new modelling released by the Ford government suggests.
The modelling looked at four different paths that the province could take depending on the growth in cases between now and early January.
It suggests that if infections grow at a rate of three per cent over the next month, which is a slightly accelerated pace compared to the 2.47 per cent growth rate we have seen over the last 14 days, we would end up with roughly 5,000 daily cases and nearly 400 people in the ICU by Jan. 8.
So this is how they are selling a lock-down for the next month....the 'what if scenario'. Rather callous when it involves the livelihood of 1,000s of business owners and the jobs the create....just in case of a worse case scenario.Quote:
The worst case scenario, which is based on the five per cent growth rate that Ontario briefly saw in November prior to lockdowns being put in place in Toronto and Peel, points to nearly 10,000 daily cases by early January with more than 500 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
It's now they only way to get achieve forced compliance with the public is to threaten the them with the 'worst case scenario'.
If you disagree with the sitting governments actions, show them at the next election. I do not want to hazard a guess, but who do you think most small business owners vote for normally? Has Ford lost those votes?
If you would pay attention Gord, Ford is losing a lot support. Especially outside the GTA. You know, the 80% that always gets what they want, but aren't willing to help?
Fine you want to blame Free trade. Doesnt that fall under "corporate greed".
What did you ( not specifically you) do when fuel was being thrown on the fire making it far worse between 2003-2016.
With any luck ambulances and fire trucks start breaking down soon as well.
One persons comment from my wall on this specific topic.
"[COLOR=#050505]Most people are completely oblivious to the real world John , it’s unfortunate but most live in a bubble and are spoon fed their beliefs on social media"
JB, your first line contradicts itself, maybe speed typing without proof reading? AND...... 'With any luck ambulances and fire trucks start breaking down as well'. Why would you want that? Sounds perverse to me.
Your a piece of work. Insults and Trolling.
Grow up. Want to start another one child? I seriously do not know what your major malfunction is.
Yes, as it often the case, speed typing, living in the real world, more important things than pissants like you. Or "here" for that matter.
Did you read your first line again? Do you really want emergency vehicles to start breaking down? I am just reading what you wrote. Yes it must be my fault you wrote that.
Don't know if Ford is losing votes since a liberal or NDP government would be worse (just check at the federal level). However, there are a lot of people who voted for Ford who are really PO'd with him right now. Rural people. Business owners. People that are the core of the Ontario Conservative party. I'm hearing a lot of "if we wanted liberal government we'd have voted for the liberals".
Obviously, your capacity for critical thinking is that of an unhinged child, that has a seriously unhealthy fixation on someone.
SARCASM Einstein
Mulroney? You mean the PM who's been out of office for almost 30 years now? WTF - and I thought the blaming Harper 5 years later was bad.
FTA was just Mulroney being ahead of the times. If he didn't bring it in in the '80s Chretien would have brought it in. Trade is global now and there is no escaping that.
What really killed Ontario manufacturing was:
- high payroll taxes (including the hidden "taxes" like required certifications)
- very high energy costs
- anti-business Ontario government policies
- labour unions
Not you per say but some of your comments...... Says the guy who wants emergency vehicles to start breaking down for some reason. Why? Who says........ 'Especially outside the GTA. You know the 80% who always get what they want but are unwilling to help.'........ Did you really mean to say that? Totally fixated on the GTA. You know most of those 'peons' you keep referring to, the ones that took it on the chin, the minimum wage earners who cannot afford an apartment, let alone a house, live in the GTA.
I’m done with you. I wish blocking here, worked as it does on FB. Unfortunately it doesn’t, it’s backwards.
I cannot stop you. Get help, and if I though it do any good, my next call would be the cops
I guess you can't stand having your mistakes and irrational wishes ("with any luck"), pointed out. Who in their right mind wants ambulances and fire trucks to start breaking down?..... Call the cops? Again irrational...... Don't say silly things and I won't ask you , why.
I can't imagine what your wife ever saw or still see's in you. Your sick Gord, seriously unbalanced and need in of help. Get it.
Please explain why you want ambulance and fire trucks to start breaking down. You can't because it is indefensible. Your problem is you do not like your 'opinions' challenged. Yup we can all get along , if we agree with you.
Let me spell a few things you out for you.

Criminal harassment ( It's a shame I don't actually fear for my safety) But given a long, demonstrated easily prooved history here and on Facebook. Like text messages.......You have been told to stop dozens of times,,,,
264 (1) No person shall, without lawful authority and knowing that another person is harassed or recklessly as to whether the other person is harassed, engage in conduct referred to in subsection (2) that causes that other person reasonably, in all the circumstances, to fear for their safety or the safety of anyone known to them.

Shall I move onto other personality things?
So by asking you to clarify, or justify your position I am harassing you? On an outdoors community forum? You fear for your safety? Ridiculous, but maybe your ego. I have as much right to my opinions as you. Stop trying to shut me down. Bullying is also against the rules on here , and the law. .....Why do you want fire trucks to break down?.... Obsessive? .....How about you and your constant distain of the GTA? You can't be on any thread without blaming it for something, or everything.
Last warning.
Stop
The next election should be interesting. I expect this lockdown will put the last nail in the coffin of Ford's traditional conservative support but he is probably gaining leftist liberal Karen support.
I agree Jake , they might just balance out between what votes they gain and what votes they will lose. I agree with what ford is doing, but I do not own a business. Time will tell.

People who support lockdown say it's not soon enough and doesn't go far enough. Business people and "freedom" types say there shouldn't be a lockdown at all. People in some areas want lockdowns but only if it doesn't affect them.
It's a no-win situation for government but when you have to do hard things and the outcome is that everyone is pissed off with you but for different reasons then you've probably made the right choices.
If voters who supported Ford in the last election are dumb enough to abandon him in the next election because of this they can enjoy living under an NDP or Liberal government.
Yeh pretty much agree with your post, I did not like Doug after he got elected, saw a lot of similarities with a guy down south ,but he started to open up with the media and answer questions for the voters. Overall as a Liberal I could see myself voting for him even although he has done a few things I am very much against.
At least with the Liberals and NDP you know you are going to get screwed.
Agree with him or not, at the end of he day he has abandoned his base.
JBen & Fisher,

Just a quick comment on the loan thing.
Now it may just be my experience over the last year, but it seems the "ESSENTIAL" worker label is starter to carry a lot of value. SURE you have a 540 credit rating, but your an essential worker...so your appoved!
Ok maybe a 540, but that essential seems to open doors..
He said it for the same reason many people reading your posts look around and say "Please someone just kill me now!"
It was a sarcastically phrase or comment.
If you have not read the other posts, there have been comments about equipment breaking down and parts being hard to get. Meaning if the alternator on an ambulance or firetruck breaks for example it could be weeks to months before it can be sent on a call.
That's exactly how I read it ... but some trolls just need to pick a fight to keep themselves busy ... so they either take everything literally, or they twist and turn everything around just to get their 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 01 cent in.
Not these two...they've been on here doing this crap for 12 yrs...it never stops...
you'd think the Mods, with the rules they have in place could do something more than tell us to ignore them..

Like Carbon Taxes Trimmer?
No doubt, all those factories are just going to love that hit on top of everything else. Factories which are needed to make widgets, which are needed to make A to Z, which are needed to keep trucks and trains moving so warehouses in distribution centres. Shame their fork lifts are in need of service
:)
I spent a year trying to clean up a manufacturing plant, (extrusion) and have recently met someone else that's in the extrusion business. The plant I was at got a lot of materials from Thailand. 6 weeks during normal years. They went into work share back in the spring. The "ovens" that plant built, so places like hydro companies, all vehicle manufacturers, and more could melt the Aluminum billets ( Extrusion) so they could widgets and gadgets and parts and.......
Looks like the person I recently met is going into lockdown, we were talking today. Plant closed.https://www.signaturealum.com/
People have no idea just how bad this could get.
