"here we go"?
Here's what you need to know about Ontario's new COVID-19 restrictions | CBC News

Yep, it will get interesting !!
Well with the new restrictions one would think ice fishing and going for a rabbit hunt are good to go as it would fall under, being outside to get exercise and I would class it the same as going to the grocery store. Two birds with one stone. No different than any other winter in that perspective. Stay safe. Cheers.
You bet ya .
Just one thing I'll be walking from my home to the ice [emoji23]
No matter the condition after the 28 I will be chasing whitties. 28 days [emoji6]
This new measure means I won't be heading to Kemp to fish Whitefish .
I'll do my part lol

In some ways, not very different from the spring. Other than Mask.
Will be interesting to see what they do about it.
If there's zero enforcement, it's nothing but hot air.Quote:
Ontario will be placed under a stay-at-home order, which will require everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, like going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for essential work.
It'll all unravel when a Judge asks the cob ; Who are you to judge what is essential to that nice Lady ?
So does this mean curbside pick up is no longer offered?
What happens with delivery services?
What a bloody mess ... these blanket shut downs are not addressing at all where the COVID
transmission is actually occurring.
This new measure sounds more like lip service than anything else. I am not sure what has changed? Reduced hrs for non essential goods and services and some construction restrictions.
I just want to know.............
1. "Can I still go ice fishing"
2. Can I go coyote hunting........or are these simple things in life breaking the law?
Cranking down on big box stores.... give me a break
We just got word that for us, business as usual. But we are expecting a big drop off.
Need people that want to go out spend $
...and where is it occuring??? Well it's winter and people spend a lot of times indoors and Canada's building code - going back forever - is based on keeping warm air in and cold air out. So virtually every building has a disasterous ventilation system from the perspective of virus control. It's not new - it happens every fall with cold/flu season. The spreaders are the people that stay indoors.
The politicos are frustrated that their attempts to control the spread have failed and they are blaming the people. But the real blame - should be placed on "winter". But no politician is every going to say that. So, blame the people. Remember last winter... Did the lockdowns work then? No. The spread stopped in spring - as it will again this coming spring. You will have as much luck pushing spring to come earlier as you will with locking people down.
Even in this thread, we got different answers(Interpretations)
I did a little more reading and found this from their press release....Not %100 sure but I interpret this as I can go outside and enjoy the outdoors...(hunting, fishing)
Outdoor organized public gatherings and social gatherings are further restricted to a limit of five people with limited exceptions. This is consistent with the rules during the lockdown during the first wave of COVID-19 in spring 2020 and will allow individuals and families to enjoy time outdoors safely.
https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/5...and-save-lives
I think, these guys (our government-Dougie) has it wrong..... Stop closing businesses and go find out (pinpoint) the trouble spots... This blanket approach isn't working.
That's pretty much what they are saying .
It was already a rule not to be with anyone that is not in your home.
Also heard there are limits to where you can travel within your region is what I am hearing.
Think you must stay within your community .

At the end of the day, how can they enforce it?
During our quick meeting, and discussion about "business as usual starting Thursday". Ok, great we wont be getting laid off (yet), but how or why would people come in, and if they do come in. What do they say if stopped/pulled over. I'm going to to get a loan? We have also been told in no uncertain terms doors close on time. Not 1 minute later.
Back to the spring and cottage debates. Ok, that would apparently land people in hot water this time around.
Barricades on the 400, 401, 115, 427? On the other hand, how hard would it be or been to use RIDE? It's been successful deterring people for 40 years....
In Australia, while I don't agree with blanket draconian measures. One thing they do seem to be getting right is surgically addressing problem/problem areas. They have stats and are publicizing them apparently on just who/what/where there's outbreaks.
I don't interpret that the same way as everyone else but hopefully I'm wrong.
That says you are to stay at home unless you're out to get groceries or meds, or a medical appointment, essential work, etc. You're still allowed to go OUTSIDE but you aren't supposed to be going anywhere. It says "time outdoors", not "time in the outdoors".
Time in the outdoors would imply travelling to a location to enjoy the outdoors, which would defeat the purpose of a "stay at home order".
I have no idea what can or can't be legally enforced, but that's the way it reads. Other countries had lockdowns where people weren't even allowed to go out for a walk, is that what they're creeping up on here?
Edit: The language on gatherings says "organized", what does that mean exactly?

If I’m not mistaken, eventually they said. Outdoor activities were fine.
They just closed access to most. So some were able to go Turkey hunting, but not camp on crown land or launch boats or hike on public trails/CAs
Other than having to wear a mask, this doesn’t appear to be all that different.
Hey-but there is already a great news in all this COVID turmoil !!!
We have ERADICATED all cases of Flu illnesses/cold ilnesses , plus NO ONE dies anymore from any of these two nasty things.
I can only imagine what authorities will be doing this weekend in my neighborhood. Last weekend there were huge gatherings and hundreds of cars parked with people heading out on a relatively small sliver of "safe" ice on cook's bay. I've lived in this general area my whole life and have never seen so many people. Not that it's any of my business, I didn't head out there but opted to find an empty forest so to each their own but I'll bet there will be consequences as a result of the optics.
The Covid-19 pandemic approach reminds me a lot of gun control. Instead of targeting problem areas, the politicos are doing everything except that.
Yeah no shortage huts there this afternoon lol.
Checked some ice in VB area the on the 10th wasn't good I found an open spot and 1 to 3 inches on fresher stuff. Was really surprised to see an open spot didn't even notice it till was to my left lol . Went to check again this afternoon for tomorrow but it hasn't been that cold so I said f it
I will wait and walk out next week from my place it should be alright next week. Will not check again till then lol. No Rush the best fishing is still in March .

On further thought.
Let’s look at ice fishing.
Hut operators paying big prices. Very big, given it’s a short season in good years.
Why?
Because Simcoe is an easy drive from the problem area. Same with Ski Hills.
As far as I’m concerned Covid is serious, and we should be doing what we can to limit the spread. So deal with the problem/problem people. Use freeking data!!!!!
Anything I’ve read suggest it’s not small business. Forget the fact, they more than anyone want this over. Forget the fact they have also spent a ton of money installing safety protocols.. By their very nature, they disperse people...
So try things. And if it doesn’t work or if more is still needed. Try something different, added measures. Instead, we see “gun control”. Shotgun approaches.
FFS I’ve mentioned it a few times. Why haven’t we been using RIDE since April. Random spot checks, different places each day. “Where are you off to”. I see your postal code is X. Work you say? Do you have anything that backs that up? Great! Have a great day and thanks! People on their way to parties might turn around. People obviously out of their zone without good reason. Thanks for contributing large to the relief fund.
Instead what we see are people paying very steep prices, while those who are the problem ( pardon the pun). Continue to skate through this, without a care. Many possibly enjoying it. Work from home and still get paid good $.
They aren’t feeling it.
It’s that’s simple.
Had to make my monthly walk to the post office last week, while doing so I payed attention to license plates on the vehicles jamming up main street. Brampton, Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Toronto .... Dixie Ford, Peel Chrysler. Its like July long weekend here. This would be so much simpler for the people if the actual problem people were dealt with alas even Dookie Ford can't stand to piss off the Douchebag voters from the problem areas so he punishes an entire province.

Pretty much Oaknut.
A friend that lives near me, questioned on Facebook. “Can people still buy games and TVs at Walmart”...that started a discussion in his wall. Largely the “usual” stuff.
My contribution.
“Consider us and Lindsay Al.
How are going to stop cottagers, visitors, day trippers, whatever...............
Now consider us..
Almost all options will be closed. All the small shops/services. We have far fewer options to begin with. Canadian Tire ( our biggest) is open, but curb side only. That usually takes 3 days.
So for many here.
It’s going to mean trips to Costco, Walmart, Into the problem areas.....the hot beds.....
**********************
When they need to be bringing the hammer down. On the problem areas/people.
How bloody hard would it be, been since April. Aside from RIDE, stick a couple cops in parking lots.
“Is that really essential? Where you from”
People may or may not think that’s what they should have been doing since April.
It’s the fact!!!!! They haven’t. That speaks volumes
The thing is they cannot put a fence around toronto or close the border with quebec, people will scream rights and do it anyway. My area has one of the lowest active case counts in southern Ontario yet we are in full lockdown as well. I really do not suspect the people in the extreme north of the province to need to be locked down but people from the bad areas, who are locked down, have vehicles and will travel and they will get whatever they want, so nobody is safe.
Yes, I can see how being indoors, with central air is a breeding house for COVID. But what I'm saying is ... is 70% the transmission family breaking rules and visiting their parents, or is it at the Walmart where we have 700 people bumping into each other, or is it in work offices, or via airports?? I'd like to see a statistical break down of the mechanism/place of transmission ... surely they have the data ... it's been almost 1 year now.
Once we see that data, we are all grown ups, and can modify our behavior and actions to avoid the high-risk mechanisms of transmission.
Anyhow, changing gears, I don't really see how this state of emergency really changed anything, other than shops need to close by 8 pm, and not open before 7 am. Most shops only open at 10 am anyhow, and 8 pm means a few shops will close 1h earlier. Anyone walking outside can say they are exercising.
Probably the most material change is that businesses must ensure that anyone that CAN work at home, does work at home. So, there will now be less incentive for essential services that can work from home to go into the office (some essential services have encouraged employees to work from the office).
I'm also wondering for residential renovations ... especially contracts already in place ... is that still a go ahead?
Of coarse they have the data Mark. And if they are missing some elements, well "why"? because perhaps they don't want to look at it? Don't want to deal with it.
For example, they and thus we know what age groups ( demographic) is primarily turning up as cases, and thus spreading it. They know, where they live, what their jobs are and
more.........They also have the data and statistics on what demographics are bearing the brunt of it all....So to assume or pretend they don't have a decent of who/what/where is just absurd.
As some have been and are calling into question.
When asked about mounting social cost of not working, financial stress and more. Why is it politicians and health officials "don't have that data"....
Be interesting to see if the RCMP (federal jurisdiction) are stopping all the passengers who are coming into Ottawa today to see if their travel was 'essential...and if they are going into Quarantine for the next 14 days ??
Awful lot of flight for an area under emergency lock down. All coming from two Covid 'Red' Zones..
Arrivals to Ottawa this aft..

15:11 JAN.13 AIR CANADA AC454 TORONTO

Look at the flights in the air right now......how can they control this if they cannot control who is jumping on a plane and flying to another province or coming in from another country? Again the gov't is trying to control what is easy not what is causing the problem.
https://flightaware.com/live/
Looks like an open invite for covid lol
We are fully open to spread the virus
But stay in your home [emoji12].
Borris Johnson was being bashed today too for not doing more to stop the spread of flights. Then he wouldn't discuss the agenda and said we will build back better lol.
Same issue we are following a path of destruction .

Noticed "more then 1" Que plate in the Walmart parking lot here as I was cutting through to get a few boxes of my favorite beverage yesterday from "The Retailer". Being just off the 401 probably does make it more accessible I guess, and hey, maybe they live local, just haven't changed their plates yet due to restrictions.
I do have a neighbor with N.Dakota plates who has been here since early fall as well who hasn't switched over for whatever reason. I don't care, it is none of my business either, but I do like to be aware of what is going on in my neighborhood in case it does directly affect me in the future.
Keeping your head buried in the sand and uninformed only gives you itchy eyes and just part of the whole story.

I wonder why articles this like this don't get much attention/play. This one is a bit older, but there have been a couple others recently.Quote:
The COVID suppression view is becoming a marginalized view,” he says, observing that fewer of his colleagues are adopting this perspective. “Once you have an endemic level of COVID, the economic fallout and carnage [of much larger lockdowns] would be so great that it’s not worth it.”

Bahahaha.....I busted a gut reading this. So basically this stay at home order is a recommendation.
They know the civil rights lawyers are ready to pounce all over it.
https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local...-at-home-order
What is an essential trip?
Ontario cannot determine what is essential for every person in this province, each with their own unique circumstances and regional considerations. That said, we have provided broad categories people should consider before leaving their home: food, health-care services, including medication, exercise or work, where someone’s job cannot be done at home.
What is essential work?
The stay-at-home order does not define what work or jobs are essential. Rather, it now mandates that anyone who can work from home must now do so. For example, someone working in retail obviously can’t do their job from home and would be permitted to go to work.
Why hasn’t the province defined who can or should work from home?
Ontario cannot review tens of millions of job descriptions to determine who can work from home. As such, we are relying on the best judgment and common sense of employers to determine who can do so. If an employee believes they should be working from home, they can contact the Ministry of Labour to file a health and safety complaint.
Why is the province issuing a stay-at-home order while also permitting curb-side pickup?
This question assumes every single person in Ontario has easy access to online shopping or that there is a big-box retailer in their community. This isn’t the case for many Ontarians who live in rural and remote areas.
We’ve learned a lot over the past year responding to this pandemic, including the fact that what may be essential to someone in Timmins and how they buy that item may not be essential to someone in downtown Toronto, who can easily buy items online for delivery. The Government of Ontario determining what retailers may be considered essential risks cutting off many Ontarians who don’t live in Toronto or an urban centre from access to necessary goods.
What is an essential item?
The Government of Ontario cannot determine what is essential for every person in this province, each with their own unique circumstances and regional considerations. Legally defining what is essential risks cutting people off from goods that may legitimately be necessary for their health, well-being and safety.
Why can people still gather in groups of five outdoors?
The outdoor gathering limit of five is in recognition of the fact that some people live alone and may require the company or support of others for their mental and physical well-being. Anyone gathering outside is expected to adhere to physical distancing measures and are now strongly urged to wear a mask.
Can people leave home to exercise? Can I go to my local playground or basketball court?
Yes, exercise is considered an essential reason for leaving your home. What that means will be unique to each individual Ontarian: some may wish to go for a walk around the block, while others may wish to go to a local basketball court with their household to shoot some hoops.
We recommend that Ontarians consult their local public health unit or municipality to understand what recreational amenities are open in their community.
Can someone living alone still join up with another household?
Yes, they can exclusively join one other household. This is to support their mental health and well-being, as well as to ensure those requiring support continue to have access to essential caregivers.
Is there a time limit for how long people can leave their homes?
No. That said, we’re asking Ontarians to use their best judgement when leaving their home for essential reasons. They should limit the number of stores they go to and spend as little time outside of their home as possible.
Is there a limit on the number of times someone can leave their home in a day?
No. That said, we’re asking Ontarians to use their best judgement when leaving their home for essential reasons. They should limit the number of stores they go to and spend as little time outside of their home as possible.
Can people travel to their cottages or secondary residences?
Right now, we are asking people to stay home and only leave their home for essential purposes, which could include emergency maintenance of a secondary residence. In the spirit of the stay-at-home order, at this time we are not recommending intra-provincial travel.
I just shared that lol.
Even our York region health officials begged not to shut down back in November. Wonder why?
But instead listen to the the doctor That's being told what to say. And show his most severe modeling numbers that could be possiblity lol. This is what could happen lol.

The CTV news at 5:00 just had a Lawyer on...his advice (almost laughing) give the Officer your ID and take the ticket if he doesn't accept your excuse for being away from home. Don't fight with him over it. He confirmed what I had said earlier; they do not want to do this and are pushing back, but must do as there are ordered to.
He also said, hang onto it as later in 2021, there will be a herd of Pro Bono lawyers waiting to take them to court for you.
I think I mentioned in here, a conversation with someone that lives nearby and Ford actually touched on it in his sound bytes
What a crock, obviously he has never spent much time in rural Ont other than his cottage where he has likely never shopped for much other than booze and maybe somewhere to eat. Certainly not for household items big or small.Quote:

This question assumes every single person in Ontario has easy access to online shopping or that there is a big-box retailer in their community. This isn’t the case for many Ontarians who live in rural and remote areas.
So lets say we "need" somethings. With most places shut down and just a couple options like Canadian Tire ( our "big box). It takes 2-3 days for pick up. Being people that live in rural Ontario we also dont like driving into town 3 times a week, to buy A, then B, then pick up groceries from Loblaws on C. Plus, selection is smaller and prices are higher. At its simplest the same fishing rod I can buy at CT for $250 is likely $200 at Sail. Most items are no different.
So what at most going to do?
Drive into Oshawa, hit Walmart/Costco/Home Depot. Done. Then head home
If it's essential, say our bathroom floods, or sump pump goes, or fridge dies?
Far more selection and cheaper prices.....In Oshawa...If he thinks people are going to wait 3 days, and pay CT prices..Their nuts and obviously have no clue about reality.
Will also add, as soon as the new wave of lockdowns were announced. Loblaws was out of a ton of stuff. Aspargus, Bok Choi, pepperoni and one other item, they couldnt fill for our pick up last week. So guess what....A lot of people will do....
Here’s a perfect. Real example. I know we’re are down to 1 bag of water softener. CT and Costco usually sell that for the same price. Historically the kind of thing I’d grab at CT while in town. Maybe while buying groceries. Maybe pick up a few other items like detergent or TP. If it cost a few extra bucks. It’s $10 in gas and another 40 min to Costco. I can be there before it opens tomorrow buy 3 months worth of salt, deodorant, paper towel, toothpaste, shampoo. Save far more than $10 for gas. Buy some groceries and or hit Walmart on the way home. Home by 1pm
Loblaws. 1 week for pick up, CT-3 days. And have fun trying to get them to have orders ready for the same time slot.
I’ve avoided Costco like the plague. And likely will continue to.,a lot of people won’t. And I wonder how many might bring more than just than just “salt” home. Given case counts in the city.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/men...visa-1.5872287 and yet we are locked down
With sleepy Joe getting set to take the wheel on the 20th and the village idiot we have up here at the helm it won't be long and China will be running roughshod over North America.
It's interesting that the Liberal Minister (François -Philippe Champagne) who suggested a tougher line with China was 'fired' and moved earlier this week and out of that portfolio.
Quote:
John Ivison: The cabinet shuffle is a puzzle
François -Philippe Champagne has been promising a tougher line on China for over a year.
It was a curious quirk of providence that at the precise moment he finally announced tough new measures aimed at addressing human rights violations in Xinjiang province, he was being shuffled out of the foreign affairs portfolio.
The press release outlining new measures to combat the repressive surveillance, mass detentions and mistreatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang province hit the wires at 9.02 on Tuesday morning, just as Champagne was taking part in a virtual cabinet shuffle that saw him moved from foreign affairs to innovation, science and industry.
The look of forced geniality on his face was reminiscent of Jody Wilson-Raybould, after she was demoted from justice to veteran’s affairs two years ago.
He is said to have promoted the idea of a pivot away from China in terms of trade and investment but it was rejected when it reached cabinet. All that was left was a muddled announcement about how the relationship is “multi-dimensional,” meaning we should cooperate with China on shared concerns like climate change, and work with like-minded countries to defend the rules-based system when the Chinese try to abuse it.

Lockdown? What lockdown? The gun club is still open. No indoor ranges, no guests, restrictions on squad sizes but still open. :goodstuff:
If Doug Ford wants me to stay at home why does he give me some place to go?
The Ford response is not a medical response - it is a political response and action..that's all.
This "non-lock down" lock down is just nuts. As long as we can get groceries, prescriptions, beer and head to the hunting areas and lakes,we're good. Anything else that we need to order can be delivered. As for the rest of it,I'm lacing my boots all the way to the top because the shyte's just getting too deep.
Went in for 'essentials' this morning...everything was the same as it has been for months now. This latest denial of services has no affect on me other than I can't get a hair cut.
Regarding the 'need' for the lockdown. Why don't the panicking people realise that for a couple of weeks around Christmas there was a lot of interaction that was going on (primarily shopping) but also some family visiting and that post-christmas for a couple of weeks, we are going to see higher numbers. As Ford ramps up a higher level of lockdown, the numbers have already been dropping and the r-naught based on a 7 day average of new cases is below 1.0 - the threshold for increasing lockdown restrictions.

I was not with them on that one.
Ashamed of me self now lol. But I also seen past what they seen and knew it was the illegal guns causing the problems.
Just like how this is killing our economy and more unnecessary death's not related to covid.
Just look at other countries that are now experiencing extremely high rates of poverty . From these lockdowns .
We have done this already and it hasn't worked these small shutdown don't work we know that . So why are continuing the same route to failure?
Its proven to not be effective and have serious side effects so why are we doing more of the same if it's not working.?

So, can I use curbside pick up or not ... what's the point of several merchants to stay open if a cop says anything they do is not essential?? Law says they are allowed to have curbside pickup, so that indicates that it is acceptable to provide goods? So is it essential or not?
the only thing these lockdowns do, is increase country and individuals debts. for those out of work.
it is not lowering numbers of covid.
wonder what agenda it is supporting ... international debt cancellation ?
I very highly doubt it with the with the two administrations that will be running the US an Canada after the 20th. She is living a pretty posh lifestyle here in Canada at the moment and now with her family granted access to the country she is on easy street! I wonder if the same can be said for the two Michaels detained in China at the moment I guarantee it isn't.
The "Great Reset", "Build Back Better", the 2 new coined phrases for socialism and communism.
1) Healthcare — Control healthcare and you control the people
2) Poverty — Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt — Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control — Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare — Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).
6) Education — Take control of what people read and listen to — take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion — Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.
8) Class Warfare — Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor
I did curbside today at Home Hardware ; picked up a 30a D-SQ for a job I was doing...the CCT was 'essential' for completion of the job.
I'd take that to court if some Enforcement officer wanted to pick a fight over my interpretation.
The panel it was to be installed in, was for a house, which needed power.
You can see how complicated a definition of 'essential' can be...trickle up and everything hits a point of 'essential.'
That is why the provincial government is actually saying that they will not define it. If you are just lingering, hanging out, then you can be charged, if you are going to and from a location you should not have any issues. There are always the cops who don't care and will do what they want but that has not changed.
If you can say to yourself that the trip out is essential then it is, simple.
What I am happy about is the push back against dragging a whole family in to the grocery store when it is not necessary, in some cases it will be but often you do not have to bring your kids with you and spread around germs.
During the 1st lockdown the grocery stores etc had to put up signs that said only '1' member per family...I thought that was brilliant to prevent just that.
Then I went for seniors shopping at 7:00am and there was no problem with the husband wife 'team' doing their groceries together. It was nice to see common sense being used.
They can't say 'essential' and and not define that...especially if fines are going to be issued. That is why the Cops are pushing back..why is it up to them to draw that line. Still haven't heard if the RCMP at the Airport asking those folks if their travel is essential .
I read the Windsor police interpretation of it. They are really only cracking down on gatherings of people not in the same household (limit 5).
If you're out by yourself (or with people from the same address) you shouldn't be bothered by police, as long as you're in a place you're allowed to be.
If a facility - like a park or outdoor rink - is closed and you're using it, even by yourself - that would be a problem.
So restricting people from getting together isn't lowering numbers of covid (a virus that is spread between people)?
As much as I agree with your other comment, don't negate everything you say by following it up with a statement that clearly is false. How effective it is a reducing spread could be argued, but to say it is doing nothing just is not logical.
I love the SQ-D products - QO breakers are amazing.........and yes I worked for Schneider several years back - LOL
I think they define the store that is selling the goods as essential or non-essential not what you are picking up. If some Bylaw officer questioned you just tell him this panel powers your addition and in that addition is your freezer and fridge - pretty essential to me.
I'll let you know what happens. I ordered yellow spray paint from HD and am picking it up tomorrow. Essential - hell yes! In my spare time I am building a model of a DHC-3 Otter and I need yellow spray paint for the wings and fuselage. If I cannot get yellow paint I would have to paint it Red, Blue, Grey or Green and that would look stupid.......so it is pretty essential to me - LOL.
Mother charged for leaving kids with grandmother to go shopping. https://www.norfolktoday.ca/2021/01/...grandparents/#
Indeed.
My daughter lives on her own. And has a condition. “So your not allowed to come see me?”. To which said, I’m not sure...
There are some “exceptions” for people that live alone, but I don’t think they extend to some human company/interaction. Between medical things that limit her mobility, and working from home since April. It’s been a hell of a year on her as is.
Honestly not sure fish food. What I read indicated they can go out, groups of 5.
But as far as her having a friend/family member over for some company.
Well, like the mother in SW Ontario. It just takes a snitch.
And the fact of the matter is, I personally, other than going to see her periodically to break the monotony. I am avoiding that area like the plague.....
This lock down isn't good for anyone's mental health but especially teenagers or young adults..... Not being able to go out or hang out at that age can't be good for their mental health and is probably really stressful for them too.....
You see JBen-many are still working -Thanx God.It comes with great travel within Ontario.100 km travel to work one way is not unheard of at all.
Can our Government explain what is a difference if a : coworker coming from A place to B place(maybe from high danger zone to low danger zone)and meet 50-100-200 ppl in a week, versus your daughter being at home, all alone-and due of the dread of COVID,no one can visit her ,with piece of mind..............
Face mask ,6 feet and temperature check what is the rule of the day(week-month --or year)SO WHY ? in their all might can not make rules to respect and support the people?
Comes to my mind once when my former boss made some rules-what me and my coworkers did follow .To the T what he asked for! Bunch of others did not. He tolerated this as normal.
So-when this came out in open -i dared to ask him : So,if we do it -we HAVE to do it???and if we do NOT do it,we do not have to do it?
Kind of like today's rules.
Honestly,JBen,with a family member in that position,I'd take the ticket and my chances in court. I can see some squealing, sniveling POS deliberately being a rat, but,I can't see any LEO writing a ticket under those circumstances and even if some officious jerk did,I doubt a court would convict. Anymore it seems, there's a segment of society that's taking a**holism to an art form.
Talking to her yesterday.
There's some kind of govt site where she can pick 1 person and submit their names as an allowable visitor.
But airports.............
Costco...........
Just boggles my mind.
The do gooders and far Left
of the world are doing far more harm. I will likely end up going to see her over the next 30 days. And yep, I pity any person or cop that gets in my face and says I can't.
I witnessed the same last Thursday in a parking lot. A person of visible minority parked next to me at a shopping centre, existed the vehicle and proceeded down the lot towards the stores front door mask in hand. He had not gone 50 feet when an older lady wearing a mask exited her vehicle and told him to put his mask on. He was still at least 200 feet from the doors. He apologized and complied.
That same lady sat in her vehicle facing me and purposely waited in her vehicle for me to also exist. I was not wearing a mask. I figured she was up to no good so simply waited her out a few minutes until she finally drove away with mask on!
By that time the young fellow had completed his shopping and was returning to his vehicle. I approached him and let him know that he was entirely in his rights not to wear a mask in an outdoor environment. He said he knew but simply wanted to avoid a confrontation.
Things would have been much different had she come at me out of nowhere. People need to stop watching propaganda TV.
I fail to see how the persons 'visible minority' status, has anything to do with it. Gee, what was the colour of the, confrontational 50 year old woman ? Why not mention her ansestory-colour?
Wee bones Impact......
;)
Oddly enough, if I think back to July. I can count on one hand the number of people I’ve seen without mask in public. And or, not keeping their distance from others. The majority have been seniors.
They don’t bother me at all, other than one who despite my effort to keep space between us while in line. Kept getting to within 1 foot.
At the end of the day, I always have the choice to back away. Go into a store or not and over the months there have been countless times I’ve sat in my car waiting for a store to thin out. Drove past places with line ups out the door. Including our Loblaws.
My safety, is my responsibility.
Your absolutely allowed to go visit someone who lives alone. They have said so over and over, health checks on people who live alone are encouraged. Don't give it a second thought and go visit if you want to.
I go and check in on my elderly mother who lives alone as often as I think is necessary. Nobody is going to say anything about it, and if they do they are wrong and a cop sure isn't.

Gatherings
Limit close contact to only members of your household (the people you live with). If you live alone, you may consider having close contact with one other household only.
so in my daughters case.
that’s one friend, her mother or I.
You are right, JBen. That's the way it reads, and I would do like you said and just go visit her quietly. Kind of like going 85 in an 80kph zone.
Argument is not needed, any age heckler does not matter. They can be dealt with rather easily..lol
If you prefer to be dictated to, and do as your told, that's your choice.
If your not willing to stand up for your rights and freedoms, why do you want to live in a free country?
If you want to listen to the lawmakers and stay home away from your family, but hit Costco for food, then to the gas station, beer store and go home to drink alone, go ahead.
Your lawmakers are drinking down south on a warm beach laughing at all their sheep they have herded in their barns..
If I remember correctly, "now is not the time to travel".
Off with the cameras, and Caribbean Vacation here we come....lol.
I still doing as normal. Spend time with family weekly as usual.
No beaches, not my thing, but heading to camp tomorrow for a week hunting instead. I will decide for myself what is essential for me.
As you should and I hope you enjoy camp. I just got back from mine. As for the stupid politicians, well there are stupid people in every group and politicians have more than most. I suspect most of them are regretting their decisions.
But you can call me a sheep all you want, I'm still not wasting my time arguing with an old lady on the flawed thought process that somehow it retains my freedom. It truly does nothing productive.
Both Canadaman and FishHog mentions valid points.
To each their own.
What bothers me in this COVID era is the death of the word"PLEASE" ,and the aggressiveness for standing up for COVID rules by every Tom-Dick and Harry.
Nowadays every one feels entitled to tell on the next person, with great agressiveness- in any store or institution(cashiers,"door guards" ,even shelf loaders-never mind the random idiot customer)
Who the heck they think they are?
Like I said, arguing is not needed in that type of example. Theres ways of responding without needing to speak, let alone argue regardless of age.
As long as I do what I need to do, I believe somebody heckling me to do what they want me to do, are far more offensive than some random person not wearing a mask minding their own. Its beyond me why anyone would cower and comply to that kind of bs.
Sadly our politicians have no plans to stop living to hideout at home. Many have more than one home and travel as they please.
A far as a heckler yelling at me to stop doing something I am free to do by law, I would feel sheepish to cower and comply, to each their own
Sadly people are not even seeing their family, but meeting hundreds at the grocery store daily, weekly. Groups of 5 outside, but 500 inside Costco.
Sometimes following the rules may be doing more bad than good.

Main reason I brought my daughter in to it for some context/perspective.
Both her mother and I live 45-60min away. Whether she or I or us comply. It’s utterly ridiculous. That she can only have 1 “allowable visitor”.
Especially given neither of her parents, or a single friend, can or will visit every day, every other day, every few days.....
FFS she could in fact, get more social activity by joining 500 other people in a Costco line. But our oh so smart Drs and health professionals and politicians see no problems with that...
In my daughters case it is 1 person. I’m sure she’s not the only single person, who, due to potential high risk people..........
So, as I’ve said it’s either one of her likewise single friends. Yes she has friends that are married, but...maybe her friends husband, or an elderly parent?.
Or my Ex (and her household where’s a child at risk).....
or my “household”. Where even I, I’m sure would be deemed moderate risk...
And I’m sure she’s “not alone” given the number of divorced people, single people out there who might have elderly parents, spouses, or children to think about.....
just because it says “household” doesn’t mean much.....
The risk factors are something you need to assess, as does your daughter. The Order however, allowed a person that lives alone to be in the company of “one” other “household”. So, that allowed a single parent that lived alone, to go have Christmas with a son or daughters household ....
I know Rick.
Being divorced, and knowing a lot of single people. From day 1 back in March, the fiancé and I have said, “how lucky we are, we know so many”. Back in April, people would join various things like zoom, messenger groups/FaceTime. I could Rhyme off 8 single friends...without thinking hard.
1 household.
And each household could have 2-6 people. Each with elderly parents that are alone, and so on and so on..
The main point, is or was.
That people who live alone are allowed 1 visitor. Neither my Ex or I would go to see her with more than just us.
Or household if you prefer. And all it takes is 1 snitch..
Earlier I linked the mother that dropped her kids off with their grandmother.
But we can go join line up with “500” other people at Costco. Or hop on planes.
Oh, this is good. The doctor who actually trained Williams is also now speaking out.

Wow it's like he's been reading my posts HaHa...
Something has been blatantly wrong since early on in the pandemic. Anyone who looked at the data objectively, looked at the death rate per population, looked at the demographics of the sick, looked at the numbers at the point of hospital admissions and numbers going into ICU care could see exactly what he's talking about. Instead they used only used the data that would instill fear.
The cost and I don't just mean financial, has been far to great compared to what we've lost.
No response from our government on this, not seeing anyone in the news talking about this either..... so it can't be true......
Here you go. Would I lie to you?
MSM censorship is alive and well my friend.
